About this listen

When you find yourself in a hole, stop digging.

Commodore Jack Romanoff and his merry band of ragtag navy rejects—skilled yet young war reenactors, a rescued navy crew, and a Confederation spy—have rescued more than two hundred civilian ships and escaped a massacre in a battleship over two centuries old.

Too bad they blew a fusion plant doing it.

Trapped in a deserted system with the Locusts after them, they have a hard deadline to sort out the mess. Standing in the way is an arrogant navy captain unwilling to bend his stiff neck, and the man’s unexpected—and unwelcome—allies.

Yet clever friends and shocking secrets may still turn the tide.

Jack and his crew have only one chance to get it right. To do that, he must bind them all together with bonds of blood.

A great book!

This was a fun book written by JN and not JR Chaney and Terry Mixon. I loved it, a regular thrill ride! Where is book three already!

Great story

I wasn’t disappointed at all with the second installment of the series. Great story and well written with lively characters. I am looking forward to the third book. Keep up the great work.

the story is about average.

Decent story but its filled with coincidences that dont make much sence given the setting.

not enough action

it might be the style of the book not sure I like them there's not enough action needs more haven't read science fiction for a while maybe in future books where you're just fighting the enemies of the Federation would be better the personal Nemesis get boring

Slow but interesting

I enjoy the story and think there is a lot of promise. The subplots are a little weak but are interesting enough to keep me listening.
The narrator isn’t bad but he has a strange aggressive cadence that comes out in all his character voices but it isn’t too much to distract me that often from the story. I’m still looking forward to see how the story unfolds.

Some good, some filler, some " why even bother"

0ver all, I enjoyed it. Why worry about uniform pins when aliens attack. Did all humans evolve to have Retard in the DNA?

Great second installment!

Military sci-fi, but not all fighting. I really like the amount of behind the scenes and character development there is, in addition to the battles. This book doesn't end on a cliffhanger, but there's clearly a 'next book'.
