I did not enjoy the portral of the USA, it goes against the ideas of the free fleet by ostracizing one of the few countries that would welcome this force. Even with a militant society the US would assist in free fleet activity willingly, examples, NATO and Korean war. the fact that the characters don't bring up the USA's willingness to fight against oppressive regimes, kinda shows a very idealized world view. likley the author does not agree with republics as a form of government and that use US intervention in world conflicts is wrong. even though with the emphasis on South Korea, which exists due to that intervention. just a thought.

I like a hero that is a hero first and confused second. This story does not wait time on the MC whingeing or second guessing. The writer does well with putting just enough in so you know the MC is not uncaring. Well done.

I always play these books at 1.30 speed though. *shrug*

A great story and who doesn't love seeing horrible people (humanoids) get what they deserve. I do feel bad for the children that lost their childhood, but war is a MF.

Ohhhh myyy gods. That was soooooooo good. I really love James, gamer tag Salchar and the group of gamers and others that were recruited together. What they've been able to do since they've escaped from the alien overlords that kidnapped them, has been amazing. By working together and working towards their goal to get back to their families. The reader feels like their actively apart of the action and that is simply astonishing. The rest of the plan is to not only take earth back from the alien syndicate (pirates) but to stop them cold. And yes Salchar understands that winning a few battles isn't gonna stop the pirates. Since they've gotten away with these shenanigans for far too long, the syndicate isn't gonna wanna stop. This is War! Where planetary systems are at stake!
So yeah grab the audiobook and let Dan Bittner tell you an action-packed adventure.

Great second book. Just one question, how tall is the MC supposed to be? I was thinking he was 7 to 8 feet tall, then the narrator said that he was 6 feet tall but he also said that he had gotten two feet taller when he what threw the awakening. so what is it?

This is my second time through the series and decided to leave a review this go around all I can say is that this is a fantastic book series with relatable characters going through difficult situations and falling back on one of the greatest things that many marines have past and present brotherhood.

Besides the characters not really growing and changing. This book was riddled with tactical errors and a complete non understanding of fleet tactics and military tactics. The throwing of marines while still engaged in fleet fighting was just waisting lives. The writer needs to think tactically on fleet formations. What each ship does and how it would fight in space. The writer seems to write his engagement as if they were on land and at a speed that would be seen on the water. Your in space with a speed that is close to the speed of light and your ships just sit there. No formations used,No tactical planning, No maneuvers being used. The thought process of the fights were written as if he drew it on a piece of paper and pretended to play it out on that. When the marines are fighting its even worse. Understanding what a commando does or a navy seal does. Regardless of how over powered they are without tactics they will fail. I liked his other books but this one was just so horribly written without any tactical knowledge or insight i couldn’t finish it. I would recommend the writer have at least some knowledge of military tactics but it was apparent he does not.

As for the America being horrible and better then anyone else. And siding with the syndicate in slave labor. You should have rained that in and not made this book so politically motivated. Your the writer and you choose what to write. I was just in aww of the written hatred you have for a country it was pretty appalling to be honest.

There's a lot of good and a lot to like here but that ending I hate gimmick I cliffhanger endings and that's what we have so I'm less then happy but it's a good book
