This is a good 3 books in 1 bundle. I got the audiobook of this and found it very helpful to me. The audiobook is well narrated and keeps the listener interested. One of the key points I learned about clutter is my responsibility as "The gatekeeper" to my home. In other words, the less "stuff" we buy or are given, the less clutter we'll need to worry about. One of the main points the author makes is that we need to just stop adding a bunch of stuff to our stash! Makes a lot of sense to me. Another point the author makes is that we should use everything we have. If we don't use it, throw it away, sell it, or donate it. She even says if you can't get rid of it, box it up and put it in the basement. Put a reminder on your calendar a month later that asks "Did you need that stuff that you put in the basement this past month?" If not, get rid of it! Her 2nd book in the bundle is actually a workbook that helps you get started decluttering and maintain a clutter free life. She talks a lot about the psychological approach that causes people to clutter up and what they need to do to break that cycle. She explains the need to just get started..."if it's worth doing, it's worth doing badly." In other words just start, and consistently work on it. As I read this book I was thinking "this is just common sense..." but then I realized "I'm not doing any of these things....maybe I should take this advice!" One thing she mentions is she had 15 coffee mugs that she never used. 20 cheap t-shirts that she never wore. Keeping them for some day when she might need them. She realized these are things she would never need, and got rid of them and didn't miss them. I'm running out of space in my home, so now I'm on a mission to find those mugs I never use and part ways! Who knew decluttering could be so interesting. Surprisingly great read!
