About this listen

The aggressive invaders from another galaxy cannot be stopped. The Composite keeps capturing system after system wiping out everything in its path, and there is no sign of a force capable of standing up to it.

In the search for allies, Gnat embarks on a long journey aimed at uniting the various branches of the human race. And though the potential for alliance is there, how can he convince them to set off to fight a suicidal war with such a disastrous balance of forces?

Beyond that, things aren't as easy as they initially seemed with the humans from the far-off Empire, and they have a compelling reason not to enter this war which does not concern them. There's also the status of sole ruler of humanity at stake, which is not the kind of achievement that can be shared.

And that means one of the human leaders will have to back down.

Good ending to series

If you liked the last book then you will probably like this one as well. I am guessing this will end the series. It ends in a place that closes out the series nicely.

Amazing

honestly the narrator is a huge part of the story if it wasn't for the narrator I probably won't listen to it. the story again freaking good and ends on a fantastic cliffhanger I'm ready to pre-order the next book!

why are all your books short

seriously I think it is time to start combining two books. we wait forever for a new book to be greeted by a short half finished book that's been split into two for profit. I get this is a practice nowadays but I feel like if elden ring has taught us anything it's that ppl love a complete product you don't see Rowling out here peddling days at Hogwarts no it is a year at a time.

Worth the Extra Listen to Perimeter Defense

Check out the other series offered by the author for better context and world building, it's well worth the extra time. It's fun to see how Mr. Atamanov tied the two universes together, and the follow through sets up a new expansion to one of my favorite stories. Good stuff

I enjoyed it.

As a general rule, I think it’s a bad habit but I will not write reviews. But, I like this book I’ve enjoyed all eight of them so far. Was not a big fan of perimeter defense but this book series is way better in my opinion.

If you got to book 8 I think you already know what to expect. So enjoy the next installment of Nat the listener.

Gnat moves on up.

Lots of new and continually progressing stuff going on.
We've got a connection to one of the author's other awesome series.
Gnat is the most important and powerful human on both Earths.
Total inhalation is constantly at the door.
I totally love this series!

NEVER BEFORE!

I have been a follower of this series for a while now. I am used to cliff hangers and really we all should be since that is the MO of the entertainment industry. But NEVER BEFORE have I been this excited for the next book in the series. Someone not familiar with the author would probably think that Gnat had himself a Royal Flush. But i know the author. While Gnats new acquisition might be a powerful game changer and might make him a force to be reckoned with. I am sure things won't go that smoothly.

I'm enjoying this series

The stakes keep getting higher and Gnat's place in the cosmos is getting further solidified. I especially enjoy the consistent upgrades and access to forbidden tech. This is the last of the free premium books and I am sorely tempted to purchase book 9 and see what happens after the (sort of) cliffhanger with the Relic Pyramid AI. All of Atamov's series have really grown on me. He's one of the best authors I never hear about in litRPG.

Steady pace across the galaxy

Michael Atamanov moves the story forward and while the story moves across the galaxy the author is careful to always keep the MC's primary focus on saving earth for humanity in the eventual galactic synchronization. There was ample world building and even moving beyond heretofore galactic factions and venturing into the Empire to discover as yet unknown mysteries.

My biggest difficulties is the author's use of odd honorifics and difficult to sort long character names. However, since he tends to add some context whenever he engages with characters, it's generally enough to recall the characters being addressed.

Neil Hellegers' performance makes for a pleasant and enjoyable listening experience.

Onto book 9!
