Publisher's summary

Your ex-spouse is bad-mouthing you to your children, perhaps even trying to turn them against you. If you handle the situation ineffectively, your relationship with your children could suffer. You could lose their respect, lose their affection, and even, in extreme cases, lose all contact with them.

This groundbreaking work gives parents powerful strategies to preserve and rebuild loving relationships with their children and provides legal and mental health professionals with practical advice to help their clients and ensure the welfare of children.

Divorce Poison offers advice on how to:

  • Recognize early warning signs of trouble
  • React if your children refuse to see you
  • Respond to rude and hateful behavior

listen to this book immediately.

divorce poison is a very well narrated book and covers the topic of alienation extremely well. there are key factors which are pointed out in order to protect your children during a divorce process which is bad enough on its face, but far worse when someone is injecting the divorce poison into the mix. We owe it to our children to protect them from damage In every way possible and this book was an excellent guide.

This book shed light and help me understand my “Not so free journey to Freedom”

I will forever be thankful for this book as I discovered it at exactly the right time. For the first time, I feel understood. It’s a must read as our society has absolutely not idea the harms of alienation and what it looks like.

Divorce Poison

An excellent, excellent book on the causes and effects of parental- alienation, on identifying and addressing destructive behaviors, and on acts that take place prior to, during, and after a divorce. It's a must-read for any parent wanting to become an advocate for their child, and for all professionals who influence relationships between the parent and child. I absolutely recommend this book.

Very helpful

After taking over half of the book to get there. the author got to the heart of what matters. I would suggest skipping the first half. He repeats himself in the second half so you won't miss anything. Kind of like I just did.

Wonderful resource for parents, attorneys, and clinicians!

Wonderful resource for parents, attorneys, and clinicians! The phenomena of parental alienation has become ubiquitous. May this book, and others like it, bring healing to hurting parents and children.

Invaluable resource

I have given this book to my lawyer, mediator, all of my family members, and friends. I read the book over a 32 hour time period and am reading it again. I’ve already seen positive results from using some of the counter techniques suggested in the book. The anxiety my kid has been demonstrating through nail biting, crying, violent outbursts, etc, have diminished and it’s only been 2 days since I started using the techniques (4 years old). It’s beneficial to any parent/child relationship, not just divorcing/ed families. The things that hit home strongest was when he spoke about how the child needs to learn how to cope with one parent or relative bad mouthing the other parent. They don’t have inherent coping mechanisms and we need to help teach them. It is so tragically beautiful. Thank you, Dr. Warshak, for this book.

Hope again

When Dr Warshak's book was recommended to me by a friend who himself had just gone through a difficult divorce I felt them was hope to regain a relationship with 3 of the 6 children from my previous marriage of 22 yrs that I am estranged from. After listening to this audiobook I strongly fell there is hope to reestablish a relationship with those 3 children, who's age range from 17 to 26yrs of age. Much of what was in this book resonated with my situation and I am hopeful with patience and the proper guidance both from this book and mental healthcare professionals I will again be able to have a healthy relationship with all my children.
