More of a self study

I I am looking for post divorce tips as a woman in my mid to late 30s with children. This book is one of many of this type I have read but I found this one to be a bit boring and I felt like I should be sitting down with a paper and pen the way this book is laid out as like a self study taking notes and writing down memories.

Helpful

Helpful stories and tips. I listened to it. I didn’t participate in the journaling activities- answered them in my head as I listened to the book.

Essential Reading

This book is comprehensive and essential to moving through the pain of divorce. The exercises were surprisingly helpful and unlocked a lot of emotions. Don't pick it up unless you're ready to do the work! Thank you, Dr. Cohen!

Deep dive into divorce emotions

As a therapist and someone going thru a divorce, I will be recommending this book to everyone I know going through the deep transformation of divorce. This book takes time to listen and work through. The journal prompts are deep and well thought out. Finished the book today and I know I will come back to it as needed.

There is still hope.

The author seemed to really understand what it feels like to grieve after a divorce. There was a lot of "therapy homework" involving writing, which I didn't do usually because I tend to listen while driving, cleaning, etc. But I did like to do the exercises mentally, just listen and think about the prompts. The book feels good to hear overall, you'll learn how to confront common problems people have when dealing with the emotional consequences of divorce. I learned how to believe in myself and value my strengths. I would recommend to a friend who had also recently gone through a divorce.
