If you've been diagnosed with OCD, you already understand how your obsessive thoughts, compulsive behavior, and need for rituals can interfere with everyday life. Maybe you've already undergone therapy or are in the midst of working with a therapist. It's important for you to know that life doesn't end with an OCD diagnosis. In fact, it's possible to not only live with the disorder, but also live joyfully. This practical and accessible guide will show you how.

You'll learn about the world of mindfulness and how living in the present moment nonjudgmentally is so important when you have OCD. You'll also explore the concept of self-compassion - what it is, what it isn't, how to use it, and why people with OCD benefit from it. Finally, you'll discover daily games, tips, and tricks for outsmarting your OCD, meditations and mindfulness exercises, and much, much more.

Living with OCD is challenging - but it doesn't have to define you. If you're tired of focusing on how "hard" living with OCD is and are looking for fun ways to make the most of your unique self, this book will be a breath of fresh air.

A must read for anyone with OCD

This may be the best book on OCD I’ve ever read. The narrator is charming and witty and the writers clearly know what they’re talking about. I was immediately captivated by the one writer’s story from childhood when he first realized he had OCD. He did the right thing dedicating his life to combating it.

The chapters are broken up excellently and there is a surprising amount of humor. I am a veteran OCD sufferer and this book had tools I never thought of before such as playing games with the demon inside your head. I was actually laughing out loud at the newspaper headline game. I’ve often used humor against my ocd but this book took it to another level.

I truly believe this book would be a godsend to anyone suffering from ocd, particularly for teens who are new to this and may fear they are going crazy. This will give them the comfort and peace of mind they need. It is sad how many ppl suffer from this but it is also nice to know we are not alone and that there is hope.

Mindfulness is so important in the battle against ocd. I’ve realized more and more that I was never present in my life, I always lamented the past and feared the future. I will def attempt these tools of mindfulness every day and I wish luck to everyone else who tries ♥️

Facing my OCD

My therapist recommended this book, and I've loved it. When I started reading, it felt like the authors had taken a scene directly from my mind when describing OCD. The ERP games are a great idea, especially the Headlines one!

A great resource

While I disagree with their stance on medications and the idea that OCD is by definition "for life," this book presents much needed ideas of mindfulness and self-compassion into the treatment arena.

The authors offer easy and understandable "games" to work with one's challenges and frame the recovery journey in the context of living a mindful and compassionate life.

They do not dig into the nitty gritty of OCD types and how to structure one's regiment, but rather give a broad strokes viewpoint on ways to apply exposure therapies gently and appropriately. They offer instruction in meditation and explain well the reason why compassion is so needed along the path.

must for any veteran

look back at all the people who spoke to you about why you are the way you are from the military. bunch of bull crap when you listen to this and realize that it all chocks up to your OCD and OCPD from years of institutionalization and indoctrination.

I do not agree with how they reference medication in the book though and do not advise anything other than holistic myself
