About this listen
Now about 30 percent of the kids in the US are obese. I am sure this is not the historical norm. I have researched fasting in adults, but other than starving, there is little on fasting in children. Fat kids often grow up to be fat adults with fat kids of their own. I address this issue in this article. I have already created a book called Diet and Health for adults.

Avoid sugars and refined grains. Instead, eat fruits, vegetables, beans, lentils, whole grains, lean proteins, and healthy fats (a sensible, plant-based, Mediterranean-style diet). Let your body burn fat between meals. Don’t snack. Be active throughout your day. Build muscle tone. Consider a simple form of intermittent fasting. Limit the hours of the day when you eat, and for best effect, make it earlier in the day (between 7 am to 3 pm, or even 10 am to 6 pm, but definitely not in the evening before bed). Avoid snacking or eating at nighttime, all the time.

Story
Sixty-eight percent of Americans have dieted at some point in their lives. But upwards of 90 percent of people who intentionally lose weight gain it back within five years. And as many as 66 percent of people who embark on weight-loss efforts end up gaining more weight than they lost. If dieting is so clearly ineffective, why are we so obsessed with it? The culprit is diet culture, a system of beliefs that equates thinness to health and moral virtue, promotes weight loss as a means of attaining higher status, and demonizes certain ways of eating while elevating others.

Story
In the late 1970s when the government mandated we get the fat out of our food, the food industry responded by pouring more sugar in. The result has been a perfect storm, disastrously altering our biochemistry and driving our eating habits out of our control. To help us lose weight and recover our health, Robert Lustig presents personal strategies to readjust the key hormones that regulate hunger, reward, and stress; and societal strategies to improve the health of the next generation.

Based on 20 years of investigative reporting and interviews with 100 practicing physicians who embrace the keto lifetstyle as the best prescription for their patients' health, Taubes' book puts the ketogenic diet movement in the necessary historical and scientific perspective. It makes clear the vital misconceptions in how we've come to think about obesity and diet (no, people do not become fat simply because they eat too much; hormones play the critical role) and uses the collected clinical experience of the medical community to provide essential practical advice.

It is estimated that about one in every three people in the world is either overweight or obese. Moreover, we are, without doubt, the unhealthiest generation of humans! This, perhaps, explains why masses of our generation will struggle to live to see their 80th birthday! Losing fat is tough. The biggest issue us women face is a complete lack of information. I mean, look at how it is marketed to us in the first place. We’re told to lose "weight" all the time. Losing weight and losing fat are two completely different things. You could lose weight and still be the unhealthiest person in the world. You can eat as much as you want and eat as healthy as you think you can, but if you follow this wrong goal, you won’t get the results you desire.

While a blessedly lucky few can afford to pound back slice after slice of pizza without noticeably gaining weight, the rest of us who give the slightest damn in the world about our weight have to be careful about what we put in our bodies. For the woefully unlucky few, even staring sidelong at a bagel can cause them to gain 10 pounds immediately. We have to count calories, look at packaging labels, try diet after fad diet that doesn't move the needle on the scale.
