I introduced my mother to yoga when she was in her 50s–28 years ago. You'd never believe she's 78--she's spritely, energetic, and full of life. Like anyone her age, she has aches and pains, but when I see the impact yoga has had on her life I'm confident about the benefits it can bring to the lives of others.
The yoga poses you will find in this book are simple and easy to repeat, even if you have never exercised before. We have included modifications of many well-known poses so they can be tailored to suit your needs. People with arthritis, osteoporosis, or other conditions worry that exercise will make things worse for them, resulting in more pain. This could not be further from the truth.
