About this listen

Jig the goblin was the runtiest member of an admittedly puny race. Jig was scrawny, so nearsighted as to be almost blind, and had such a poor self-image that when he chose a god to worship, it was one of the forgotten ones - after all, what other sort of god would have him as worshiper? He also had a cowardly fire-spider for a pet, a creature that was likely to set your hair on fire if it got into a panic. Made to stand tunnel watch by the goblin bullies who'd been assigned the job, it was just Jig's luck to be taken captive by a group of adventurers - with the usual complement of a dwarf warrior, a prince out to prove himself, his mad wizard brother, and an elfin thief. Forced to guide this ill-fated party on their search for the Rod of Creation - though Jig had no more idea how to find it than they did - he soon had them stumbling into every peril anyone had ever faced in the fantasy realms. And they hadn't even found the Necromancer or the Dragon yet!

Performed by Nanette Savard, Dylan Lynch, Terence Aselford, Eric Messner, Casie Platt, Thomas Keegan, Richard Rohan, Mort Shelby, Kimberly Gilbert, Danny Gavigan, Michael Glenn, Tim Getman.

Removed one star from Performance because the music and effects are way too loud. At times it’s hard to hear the characters talk.

Otherwise it’s a fun, simple, short story.

Fun simple story

Rare to find a fantasy adventure book out of the perspective of a goblin, while being pleasantly enjoyable listen with a lot of humour.
That also doesn't depict the Goblin as a "selfish, backstabbing coward". But a rather likable sort, more so than the company around.

I also wanna praise the sound effects, voice acting and the great narration. it really did wonders in allowing you to feel like your watching a live performance, breathing life to the story.
I genuinely felt spoiled for how good quality this was.

Theater of the mind

Although Graphic Audio has some really great adaptations, we didn’t get far into this book before stopping. The story is good but the narration is terrible. I recognize the voice actor from other GA titles and she is good but in this, she puts on an atrocious english accent. Weaving in and out of English and American and rolling her r’s for a few sentences then not for a while then back into it again is soooo distracting. It just constantly removes you from the story. I’ve returned this title simply because of the narration.

Good story but bad narration.

Great story and characters, narroraters were great too. Some of the background, immersion audio was very distracting.

great progression to book

My son, Axel, and I listened to this graphic audiobook together. We loved this and really enjoyed all the characters! We loved how big was the smallest of his kind. He, in the beginning of the story did not have any friends but by the end of the book he ended up with a friend with Rhianna. (I think that’s her name we listened to it and I think that what her name was) the casting, the story line, it was great! Can’t wait to listen to the others.

My son and I listened to this graphic audio together. This is his review :)

I love the story, my only issue is this edition goes all in with the sound effects. The cast did an excellent job, but it's sometimes hard to hear what they're saying over the added sound effects.

Overall though it's a great adventure I'd recommend to any classic fantasy fans.
