About this listen

New places, new threats, new cards!

Whisked away from Earth and dropped into a world filled with magic and wonder, Wildermount was the closest thing Gareth had to a home. Now it’s been destroyed, torn apart by twisted nightmares lashing out at the world around them.

Fleeing to the arcane tower he discovered with friends and refugees alike in tow, Gareth finds himself involved in new peril. Something dark is corrupting the rainforest around the tower, and stopping it will involve traveling half the world away to a place unlike any he has come across yet. A land where the dead walk the streets as smokestacks blot out the sky.

Gareth will need all the levels and experience points he can get if he’s going to survive in this new land. New enemies await him, and new cards lay waiting to be discovered, along with an ancient and powerful secret. One that might just give Gareth the edge he needs in his quest to topple the gods.

Love the books and can't wait for the next! But seriously... is there any way that it's not God sword? Really??? I mean, it's all one word. There's no apostrophe. And once you find out what its referring to...You still go with God's word? Tracy, please tell me it's not God's word. It just can't be. Really hope we get this straight for the next book.

Come on Graham! God's word? Really?

The only real deck building book that really makes sense. Couple new ones I haven’t read yet but can’t imagine they are any better.

A+

The series up to now has been great but 85% of this book just comes across as a filler. Nothing really advances for most of the book and then everything happens quick and it's done.
I like the direction it's going but it just needs a better pace or something more to help out along.

Felt like a filler

Good story

I honestly did not know if I would like the story as card games are a hot and miss. The author did an amazing job integrating the magic system and made me look forward to all the creative uses they could make with the summonings. I honestly went out and bought some magic the gathering cards on an app to play for myself and actually liked it for the first time. The explanations from the book actually helped me understand the game mechanics and instead of being obtrusive it made it fun and enjoyable. Hat off to the store and author.

The whole issue with the rich and poor under tone with privilege was not overly done, and I feel like the author addressed that the unfairness has benefits as much as it outwardly looks bad. It is reality like it or not, and there are ways of using it even if it is not technically fair.

I appreciate a more balanced view. Not the typical political hype people spew.

Last I love all the great well placed humor. I personal like books that can make you laugh. So far all the books have been able to make me laugh with well placed humor.

The changes in monsters and types of battles with strategy keeps me wanting more. Can’t wait to see what cards the MC gets and how he uses them.

There is a good balance with all the fights. I can’t tell you how much I hate it when ever battle comes down to a last minute save. If that is how some fights they might need to do some personal reflection and conceder a carrier change. This is more reflective of what you would see in an actual match or game. Sometimes it is the the last saving throw and sometimes it is a preverbal butt stomping. You need all types, and it helps avoid tropes.

I look forward to the next card match and fun.
