About this listen

From the author of the “full-throttle thriller” (A. J. Finn) No Exit - a riveting new psychological pause-resister featuring a fierce and unforgettable heroine.

Three months ago, Lena Nguyen’s estranged twin sister, Cambry, drove to a remote bridge seventy miles outside of Missoula, Montana, and jumped two hundred feet to her death. At least, that is the official police version.

But Lena isn’t buying it.

Now she’s come to that very bridge, driving her dead twin’s car and armed with a cassette recorder, determined to find out what really happened by interviewing the highway patrolman who allegedly discovered her sister’s body.

Corporal Raymond Raycevic has agreed to meet Lena at the scene. He is sympathetic, forthright, and professional. But his story still seems a bit off. For one thing, he stopped Cambry for speeding just an hour before she supposedly leaped to her death. Then there are the sixteen attempted 911 calls from her cell phone, made in what was unfortunately a dead zone.

But perhaps most troubling of all, the state trooper is referred to by name in Cambry’s final enigmatic text to her sister: Please Forgive Me. Lena will do anything to uncover the truth. But as her twin’s final hours come into focus, Lena’s search turns into a harrowing tooth-and-nail fight for her own survival - one that will test everything she thought she knew about her sister and herself....

Good not great

As implausible as No Exit was, it kept me reading until the bitter end. Of the hundreds of books I’ve read or listened to THAT book is one of the few I truly remember. I still know the desperate and stressful feelings I experienced while reading that book. With so many novels vying for space in my brain that book succeeded in searing itself into my memory. I get it - No Exit set a really high bar. Hairpin Bridge doesn’t match it in the least - if my eye rolls while listening are anything to go by. Still, it’s worth a read or a listen as long as you don’t expect a book a great as No Exit.

Suspenseful female heroine

Lena’s twin sister, Cambry, is found dead at the bottom of Hairpin bridge. The cause of death? Suicide. Only Lena is convinced it was murder and arranges a meetup at the exact location with who she thinks committed it.

I picked this book up because I enjoyed Adam’s No Exit so much. This one definitely didn’t live up to the storyline and suspense in No Exit, in large part to how the story is told. It jumps from past to present and it’s difficult to differentiate between the two at times. I did stay entertained throughout though, and there were some twists that genuinely surprised me and were very well done.

twists and turns everywhere

While I more often than not use Audible, after reading some of the reviews that book readers had trouble deciphering who was speaking at what time … Audible alleviated that possible problem.

The book was a lot of fun with so many twists and turns and then it would double back on itself. This book was a lot of fun to discuss during our @bookclubgirlssparta meeting. This is a book you can’t put down and leaves you still chatting about it once you’re finished with it.

A fine book

The story and performance were both fine, I was engaged to the end, and finished it easily. At the same time it’s not a title a would rave about or go out of my way to recommend. It was fine

Didi

I was really disappointed, I loved No Exit! Brilliant author! This was too much back and forth and frontward and backwards.
Way too much work to enjoy it.

Disappointment

I read No Exit and was hoping that this book would be just as good however the first 80% of the book was awful and I found my self just trying to get through it. I almost stopped reading entirely but felt invested. It got slightly better at the end but overall it was definitely not as good.
