Publisher's summary

In How to Be Well, Lipman has created The Good Medicine Mandala - a new map for a new era of medicine. The Good Medicine Mandala is illustrated by a circular system of six rings that contain simple steps to what really works to improve and strengthen resilience, functioning, and overall health.

The Six Rings are:

  • How to Eat: Mastering the very building blocks of life: food
  • How to Sleep: Restoring one of our most fundamental needs
  • How to Move: Helping the body move in the ways that nature intended
  • How to Protect: Mitigating and preventing the invisible assaults of everyday toxins
  • How to Unwind: Consciously switching off to allow for mental reprieve
  • How to Connect: Awakening and enhancing a sense of belonging and meaning

For anyone interested in health, wellness, and happiness, How to Be Well is a must-have.

Better in Print

Love the information in this book - a real brain expander in places. But I think a lot of it would be received better through text than as an audiobook. You can still get a lot of cool concepts out of it but it’s one I want on my shelves filed under reference.

Great book BUT . . .

I really liked this book, it is full of great tips, easy to listen and follow. But it needs a PDF file to go back put to use the information.

Listen with a grain of Salt (edit: handful)

So before I listen to any book I google the author, and when you google this guy you will find that he is an MD BUT he has also been criticized for being anti vaccine. I was a bit skeptical after finding this out but decided to listen to the book anyway. There is a lot of good info and I even enjoyed some of the book but it is so annoying when he says that a scientific journal backs his claims but then fails to tell you which scientific journal. All he says is that they are “very prestigious”. I like to fact check when I’m not 100% on board with the author. He also has a tirade against GMO’s which does have some basis, but he blames a lot of stuff on them that I’m just not buying. Currently I’m on chapter 8 which has been an unpleasant outlier so far. Long story short, there is some good info, but proceed with caution. I’ll update my review when I finish the book (if I remember).

Alright I’ve finished and there is just as much fear mongering as there is factual information. Some of the information is great but a lot is covered in big words for no reason. He has a tirade about “radiation” from 5G and pushes a bunch of supplements even though they aren’t regulated in the U.S. It’s great that he wants people to be more concerned about what’s in their hygiene products and food but not everyone can afford all organic. He seems to be a celebrity doctor pushing expensive products for industry.
