About this listen

Seek out new life and civilizations. Kill them for their mana. Aliens are blown away by science.

Daniel Thrush is the only known human with the ability to learn the magic which runs the various empires of the universe. Earth is in the crosshairs of the Tellask Empire, a race that discovered magic millennia before humanity even mastered fire.

All known aliens focus on the arcane. Upon learning of magic, their technological progress all but halted as great voidships spread their colonies across the galaxy. For all of Earth's military might, their only hope is to incorporate the alien's magic into technology, to use the enemy's own tools to fight them.

The government is dead-set on transforming magic into a standard-issue weapon. That means finding monsters and harvesting their mana, usually after sticking them with a sword. Despite his better judgement, and the world on his shoulders, Daniel leaves Earth behind to bring them back a future.

Really good

Okay so i almost dropped this because of how naive and easily manipulated the MC is but thankfully he starts to change or try to around the middle of the book and it just becomes a much more enjoyable experience after that

Really good story

I enjoyed the apocalypse coming at a slow steady rate and one man’s fall into another world threw one bad choice after another. The system he uses is slow and clumsy the magic even more so, everything is just right for a normal guy trying to make things he doesn’t really comprehend work for him. I felt the part near the end was ruff but a halfway descent way for him to escape what was definitely going to be in definite incarceration.

Strong start

The first chapter or two was super dope but the rest of the story was just well written.
Didn't knock it out of the park but laid a strong foundation to this universe.
I will be back for the next one

Off to Twilight

Dan is working for the military as a tech and his military unit is called for an actual alien invasion. After fruitless study, Dan takes a wild risk and gains the ability to use magic. After training with a private institute, he is teleported to an alien world to gain the ability to teach other humans. If he can survive long enough to learn how.

The concept of this story was very interesting. The idea that magic had to be unlocked and that is why Earth had no magic. Just a heads up, this book deals heavily with addiction.

It's a bird, it's a plane, it's Thrusher!

Cale Plamann crafts a mash-up of a magic-oriented alien Earth invasion and a human engineered litRPG-like super soldier injection that is hoped will allow Earth to defend itself. The main character is a weak-willed male scientist who has a tendency to go-along to get-along who carelessly learns how to possess magic. He then agrees to be the sole guinea pig to go on an outlandish pathfinder mission to an unknown alien planet to learn more about acquiring magic. As ridiculous as this sounds, the story itself is well-crafted and highly entertaining.

Daniel Wisniewski performance is very good and can mimic different genders and dialects quite well.

Onto Book 2.

New take on litrpg

*spoiler alert*

this was a great new take on the litrpg. from aliens elves landing on earth and being killed by modern tec and the government struggling to figure out how it worked. To ranking through aborbing the mana from the creature it looked. loved the combination of scif and fantasy giving the book an almost epic feel. the mc was a regular person with a weak mentality that was interesting to watch grow and fell into the same ruts but in a fantasy setting. watching him progress through that was great and can't wait to see where that goes. him getting addicted to mana was also a great way to introduced and common theme in a new way something that actually has bad repucassion. loved the combination of nano tec to world allowing it to be the one that helped manage mana and that magic was actually really hard to uses. overall this was amazing to read.
