Story
A man. His ex-girlfriend's cat. A sadistic game show unlike anything in the universe: a dungeon crawl where survival depends on killing your prey in the most entertaining way possible. In a flash, every human-erected construction on Earth - from Buckingham Palace to the tiniest of sheds - collapses in a heap, sinking into the ground. The buildings and all the people inside have all been atomized and transformed into the dungeon: an 18-level labyrinth filled with traps, monsters, and loot.

Cute bunnies and beautiful butterflies became savage killing machines. Then the Invaders arrived with a single goal: to obtain ownership of this new habitable planet. War has raged ever since. None of this mattered much to Derek, aside from making living a little more perilous.

Milton Frederick never had the chance to live out his life as a professional gamer on Earth, mainly because he was abducted by aliens. Unfortunately, he wasn’t returned home after the typical probing associated with such things to tell an unbelievable story to his friends. Instead, he was summarily killed, and his consciousness was inserted into a Station Core, a giant metal egg-shaped object that could use technology to create traps, Combat Units, and other defenses to protect not just himself, but those he cared about.

An amazing Series!!! Lit-RPG with RTS mixed in.
I have been a big fan of this series and have been waiting impatiently for this book to come out. It is an original take on the Lit-RPG genre and mixes RTS into the mix. It is full of light humor and an engaging story line. Narration is also makes this series great. Jack Voraces is an excellent pairing with Dean Hengar's series and jack makes it comes alive. One of my all time favorite series!

Fantastic LitRPG
I received a free review copy of this audiobook.
I thoroughly enjoyed this book. In it, Raytak has to defend Hayden's Knoll in the war that has been brewing. It was a fitting finale to the series. If you liked the previous books, I recommend listening to this one also. The story has some twists, and effective strategies were employed. The narration was great. The voices for the characters add much to the humor and to my enjoyment of the book. There were happy and sad moments - I think it is good when a book can cause strong emotions. That demonstrates the skill of the author. Certainly, it is one of the best LitRPG series I've had the pleasure to read or listen to.

The series end was beautiful and brief. I think it is a good listen, and I enjoyed the character interaction. It could be because I have a friend named Tie and we served together in the Corps.

The Best Lit RPG Series
Book 5 is an excellent conclusion to this wonderful series. The ending is deep, touching and heartfelt. The NPC characters in game come to life and the players are developed both in game and out of game. I listened to the audible version and the narration was great. The combat strategy, action along with various alliances made the military elements compelling. There was not a weak element in the entire story. Bravo.

enjoyable.
while I understand it isn't entirely about the game world the gamer me feels a little cheated about not seeing what happened after the battle, what lvls and gear he got, what choices he picked for upgrades and all that.

Not the best book, but wow all the feels
This is not the best litrpg, there is the familiar theme of being ported into a game world, but the game mechanics used are pretty different (and not always well defined - they don't play a huge role in the story). What makes this series special though is the in real life story told accompanying the game story. It is the best I have come across (it is still a side story and the motivations don't always make the most sense), but the feels people the feels. I was left in tears.
I think anyone who has lost a grandparent to dementia or knows a veteran is going to have some emotional connection to the story. The storyline is good, but not crisp. The narrator does a decent job (and this improves throughout the series). The emotional rollercoaster the story takes you on though is top notch. Worth the credits.
