About this listen

Do you know one of these men?

The catch-me-if-you-can lover...Phil's romantic and passionate one minute, distant and cold the next.

The deviously manipulative coworker or boss...Jack denies resenting Nora's rapid rise in the company, but when they're assigned to work together on a project, he undermines her.

The obstructionist, procrastinating husband...Bob keeps telling his wife he'll finish the painting job he began years ago, but he never seems to get around to it.

These are all classic examples of the passive aggressive man. This personality syndrome - in which hostility wears a mask of passivity - is currently the number one source of men's problems in relationships and on the job. In Living with the Passive Aggressive Man, Scott Wetzler draws upon numerous case histories from his own practice to explain how and why the passive aggressive man thinks, feels, and acts the way he does.

A good review of the PA type man

This book is a good review of the contributing factors and possible outcomes of the PA type man, as well as the personality types attracted by them. It is a good aid into figuring out how on earth you got involved in this kind of relationship.

Very eye opening

This was suggested to my wife. And I started listening so I could be on my toes about what’s to come in my relationship and build a defensive way for what is to come. But by the end of the introduction and first chapter, I was like whoa and this book became eye opening. I listened to the whole thing and there’s no defense on my part, besides using this as a key to take our relationship to next level, and also work on myself. It hit home with work and friendships in the beginning and I realized I can use some help. Lol hope this helps

Why would anyone put up with this kind of man?

I enjoyed the book quite a lot from the perspective of the passive aggressive CIS man BUT wondered what kind of codependent caretaking personality would entertain this kind of behavior in their partner.
Isn't it the passive aggressive man's responsibility to work on himself, rather than assume that it's his partner's job to "fix" him? Especially if he is going to set you up as the villain for taking any initiative at all.
Considering the shockingly high percentage of men that divorce their wives the minute they are diagnosed with chronic illnesses or otherwise are unable to provide free domestic and emotional labor, the best course of action for straight women looking for a committed relationship is to see these kinds of red flags and run fast the other way.
