About this listen

A dazzling world of wonder and power. Gifts from the game gods for every person. The perfect magic for every user.

Seth, a popular streamer, can’t wait to see what this new world has in store. It’s sure to be a blast for a guy who always plays a caster, and his friends are going to be right in the thick of it with him! The game boasts algorithms designed to read biometrics and brain patterns to find the perfect magical fit for the user - magic so personalized that no two casters will ever be the same. In fact, the game company is so sure they will always be right that you can’t remake your character.

The unthinkable happened. The safeties and the guarantees failed, not just once but apparently only to them. The company has informed them that the system is infallible: There is nothing they will do. Players must use what they are given, so Seth and his team have no other choice - they need to grind it out and evolve their gifts in time to stream.

Loved this book

I am not a gamer and had no idea of what to expect.

Not to worry as this book was not JUST about gaming.

The story was extremely clever and had a constant flow of excitement.

Each of the characters were engaging and remained mysterious.

Gabriel and Rebecca MADE this book feel realistic and was perfectly acted so excellent choice in narrators!!!!

Looking forward to the next book and more Rebecca and Gabriel!

good fun book

If you like LitRPGs and mysteries you will love this book. Also they is a repressed love thing going on that is really fun to see where it goes. I can't say too much without spoilers but the book is worth it. So give it a try and see for yourself.

Good one

So the only reason i gave this book a try was because of the narrators but as soon as it started i was drawn into the story but around the middle it looked like the book was lost with no direction to go, there was no progression of anything but damn right at the end it hooked me up again so now im excited for book 2 can't wait

a great start to a 'game'

oh boy excuse me while I buy the next book. over all great start to a story. the chars feel like people to me and I feel drive home the fact that is true with a great many gamers. the people you game with are some of your best friends even if you've never meet them in person

great book

I liked the book and the style of the stat system of advancement. I kind of wish the main character took some situations differently personally but I can't wait to see if the characters evolve as the story unfolds

Entertainment at what price?

Trying out the latest and greatest Video game, would seem to be standard fare for Seth and his streaming friends. But there is something different about this game, that starts to play with them in the game as well as in real life. A super fun GameLit with lots of action and mystery enough to keep you guessing as to when and what will happen next. Dr. Faustus meets Dungeons and Dragons with a bit or Agatha Christie thrown in for good measure.

Amazing (light spoliers)

I loved the fresh concept of this book. rather then the standard mimic power it did it in way that was different and unique. I loved how small and limited it is and cant wait to see what mageblood grows into. the game system is also interesting, Familar and yet differnet enought to make it new. I enjoyed the story in the game ,and in the real world and how they mingled. the fact that it wasnt just the mc but a standard party was amazing and refreshing from the standard litrpg. I do wish that the author expanded on that. they are a great characters and I really would love to see more of them.I do wish they would the ending seem alttle abrupt , and felt more like a serial story ending where the chapter will come out next month rather then a story. overall though was highly satisfied.

Good Premise but could use a little polish

Overall this is an interesting concept for a LitRPG series. The mechanics and world building aren't bad and the party make up has some interesting elements. But at times it was difficult to get over the corniness of the character dialog, especially the IRL parts of the book. The romantic tension between main characters feels a little forced and grade-schoolish and it distracted from what could have been a really interesting fantasy plotline.

The narration was 50/50. Rebecca Woods was amazing and diverse, but Gabriel came up a little 1 dimensional in comparison.

I will definitely continue on with the series, hopefully some of the early rough spots can be worked out over the next installment or two.
