About this listen

We all have things we rely on going our way to help us feel calm and happy. Your partner waking up in a good mood. No traffic on the way to work. No lines at the supermarket. And no rain on your day off. But what happens when things don't work out that way? We fall back on soothing habits. A trip to the cupboard for snacks. Scrolling social media. A few beers or a couple of glasses of wine after a stressful day.

Make Change that Lasts reveals the hidden ways day-to-day life causes these responses—and shows you how to respond to them consciously through: hearing and understanding the music of our own bodies; letting go of hero worship; embracing discomfort; learning to take less offense; expecting adversity; accepting that you are not your past; decoupling busyness from success; and giving more than you get.

Blending ancient philosophy with a deep understanding of health, host of one of the most popular podcasts on the planet, Feel Better, Live More, Dr. Rangan Chatterjee provides a personalized approach and simple techniques for reducing our reliance on the chaotic and uncertain outside world—to help us become experts in ourselves so we can finally unlock true, long-lasting health and happiness.

Author was a good and engaging speaker.

I enjoyed this audio book. One minus was I felt there were too many plugs for his pod casts and this took away from the stories and added unneeded length to the book. The last 45 minutes could be shortened for a recap of pivotal takenaways

Informative and fun to listen

Great listen, I enjoy his voice and like that you get the authors inflections during the read. He does a great job of relating issues to situations that I think most people have been in or will at some point. I listen in the car so if the book is enjoyable and has good/relative information I listen again, to pick up some of the things I may have missed. I will definitely listen to this one again.

The book I didn’t know I needed

I bought the audible book because I enjoy Dr Chatterjee’s podcasts. It is written in a very accessible way with very relatable examples. I like that the advice given seems very practical and easily achievable. I can easily imagine myself taking on board all of his suggestions, which sound like common sense that simply hasn’t occurred to me before. He seems like a great combination of a medical doctor who is not averse to alternative practices and ideas.
Apparently a new print version will be coming out in the US next month (the publishers messed up by doing the first print in black and white only, hence some of the negative reviews) and I will probably buy the book too when the ‘improved version is available here.

Practical action steps.

Change can seem elusive, especially when I find myself in the same rut again. This book is like a hand held out inviting me to step up and out of the rut to consider a new perspective.
