About this listen

We all have things we rely on going our way to help us feel calm and happy. Your partner waking up in a good mood. No traffic on the way to work. No lines at the supermarket. And no rain on your day off. But what happens when things don't work out that way? We fall back on soothing habits. A trip to the cupboard for snacks. Scrolling social media. A few beers or a couple of glasses of wine after a stressful day.

Make Change that Lasts reveals the hidden ways day-to-day life causes these responses—and shows you how to respond to them consciously through: hearing and understanding the music of our own bodies; letting go of hero worship; embracing discomfort; learning to take less offense; expecting adversity; accepting that you are not your past; decoupling busyness from success; and giving more than you get.

Blending ancient philosophy with a deep understanding of health, host of one of the most popular podcasts on the planet, Feel Better, Live More, Dr. Rangan Chatterjee provides a personalized approach and simple techniques for reducing our reliance on the chaotic and uncertain outside world—to help us become experts in ourselves so we can finally unlock true, long-lasting health and happiness.

The book I didn’t know I needed

I bought the audible book because I enjoy Dr Chatterjee’s podcasts. It is written in a very accessible way with very relatable examples. I like that the advice given seems very practical and easily achievable. I can easily imagine myself taking on board all of his suggestions, which sound like common sense that simply hasn’t occurred to me before. He seems like a great combination of a medical doctor who is not averse to alternative practices and ideas.
Apparently a new print version will be coming out in the US next month (the publishers messed up by doing the first print in black and white only, hence some of the negative reviews) and I will probably buy the book too when the ‘improved version is available here.

My search is over

Make Change that Lasts, is a thorough and deep analysis into what we need to help us achieve a quality of life where we can be in control of and genuinely thrive. Dr. Chatterjee covers the major areas needed for growth in a most simplistic and refreshing way, and then gives examples and suggestions on how to make and keep our life truly fulfilling.
One of the best motivating and effective self-help books I’ve read!

Perfect for anyone ready to take ownership of their lives to the next level!

I feel so lucky to have stumbled upon this book! It feels like it was written and released EXACTLY FOR ME! I recently got into some unexpected conflict with a family member. I've been a rather aware and self- reflective person, but this book was like magic for me. I appreciate the heartfelt, implimentable practices and mindsets offered to equip is with empowerment when facing adversity and planning our lives. A WONDERFULLY uplifting read. I feel lighter.

Fan of his podcast but disappointed in this book

While I’m a regular listener to his podcast and do enjoy it, I was surprised at how off-putting this book was to me. The content is ok, however it felt like it was written from a place of ego as it was mainly him sharing stories and events from his life, which honestly were not terribly interesting nor inspiring. But he seems to think they are. It didn’t feel as if he could relate to real trauma (isolation from a friend group in your early teens is minor in comparison to what many others have experienced), nor real hardship or adversity. While his advice points are sound, they aren’t anything new and could have been presented in much less time without all of the ego-centric fluff.

Seems like this could of been wrapped up in a chapter

Nothing new here, stay in the moment and appreciate your relationships. Seems like we’re headed towards authors juts using AI to pump out books

I should have just listened to the podcast!

I found the book informative and I did develop some new insights by giving it a listen. My complaint is that I should not have bought it! He wrote a book based out episodes of his podcast! I could have saved a credit!
