About this listen

If we were as tiny as ants to another being, what would they make of our philosophies? The great satirist Voltaire imagines alien visitors who have opinions.

Bedtime stories are narrated by the world's most celebrated voices and written with no beginning, middle, or end so you don't stay up to hear what happens next. They're interesting enough to give your mind something to focus on, but delivered in a way that encourages sleep.

This title is part of The Audible Sleep Collection, exclusive audio experiences created to invite relaxation and sleep. New and free for members.

A Brilliantly narrated version of Voltaire‘s “Micromegas” which delves into PERCEPTION and leaves the “necessity” of our very existence left hanging... That is a poor description. listen, ponder, and perceive ;-)

Should be required reading in school

I honestly have no idea if its any good. His voice is annoying at first and the story, and him, sounds stupidly ridiculous but im asleep within 5 or so minutes of turning it on.

I slept through it

Not bad for sleeping seems to work. Not good for entertainment, makes sense. try it

This is the second bedtime story that I’ve tried, and the voice of the narrator was perfectly modulated causing sleep to occur not long after the book began. And it was an interesting story. I’ll have to listen to it while I am awake sometime. Will definitely use this one again to go to sleep.

This bedtime story put me to sleep!

Every couple of years, I come back to this story. It's like meditation, which this narrator completely nails.

Glad that I listened this time :)

Yes, a great bedtime read that was so comforting it lulled me to sleep. But so interesting that in the morning I played the rest to great satisfaction. Perfect non intrusive narration, in a calming intelligent voice. This was a free audible selection in your sleep category. I would love more of this nature!

A wonderful surprise!

Narrator has a great voice for falling asleep (in the most complimentary sense possible). The storyline was thought provoking and dreamy in itself — great for bedtime

Outstanding story. So interesting though it is a fantastic (and effective) “bedtime story”.

Great short piece that has outstanding creativity and scale. The reader’s performance is intoxicating. I was thinking about it all day.

Awesome short story

Just read this book as you’re falling asleep and you’ll probably have some weird dreams.
