About this listen

Many people have heard about the Peter Pan syndrome. The term was coined by Dr. Dan Kiley in the book The Peter Pan Syndrome: Men Who Have Never Grown Up. He also wrote another book terming the women who loved the emotionally immature man as "Wendy", referring to the Peter Pan story and movie in which Wendy falls in love with the boy who can never be who she wants him to be. He is the boy who is incapable of feeling love for another person, and he lives to serve his own sense of self, independence, and needs.

This audiobook seeks to define the traits of the men who may be classified as Peter Pans. We will also cover the harmless types of Peter Pans as well as mention those types who are much more harmful. We will touch on the frustrations that might occur in the interactions between Peter Pans and their friends, partners, and family members. Once we can define a Peter Pan, we can lower our expectations in relating to these types and seek to understand their limitations as we interact with them.

We have all met men who have the Peter Pan syndrome. Many of these men are also narcissistic and self-absorbed simply by the nature of the Peter Pan syndrome. A man who is stuck in his path through life as a boy never matures emotionally. He carries around his childhood sense of himself throughout his life. In many instances, his tastes do not grow or change. The way that he interacts with others does not grow or change. He is still stuck as a 12-year-old boy, or sometimes even younger, in his emotional development.

Way too short!

Great information but very surface level. There needs to be more depth and content. For $14.95 twenty minutes of audio is a rip. I can get this from YouTube for free!

So helpful

Currently a college student in psychology and just an average hurt woman searching for answers. You have given me just that, not so much for men but more for my suspected peter pan syndrome mother. Thank you.

Expected more info

The book was interesting but I was expecting more detail regarding narcissist. I thought the narrator sounded automated-commercial. Would recommend if you know little to nothing about the subject-very little depth on the subject.

too short

Interesting fusion of ideas, as a premise, but nothing offered about how to manage, cope, transform. Nothing about narcissism is touched upon. Very short experience.

It seems like a description of a book not a book

Although it does give a brief general overview of what a Peter Pan is, there is not much detail or perspective.

It seems that someone with a little common sense could derive all they need from the title alone.

Glad it was only $3 still I personally don’t feel it was really worth it.

Short

Good review of the complex but not a full book. It's like an introduction to the topic. And for $2.95? The site makes it appear it is a sale price for an older book, and says there are 5 chapters, but I just listened to the entire thing in less than 30 min and can tell you the last 2 chapters are credits, and at least one of the first was just dedicating the book. Poor choice on my part. I'm sorry I didn't look at the no. of pages...I was tricked!

Inadequate

This is not a book. The topic is discussed in a superficial manner and lacks any kind of depth! Such a dissappointment! No real development of ideas.
