Publisher's summary

Jodi was driving her children to college when The Man got in their car. Uninvited, unwanted, and unhinged....

The Man has no name, but he does have a gun, a knife, and a bag of "toys".

What starts as a forced ride into the desert escalates into a disturbing series of crimes and assaults.

Jodi and her children will soon pray for death.

WARNING: This novella is incredibly disturbing. It features graphic scenes of sexual violence, torture, and gore. It is not intended for easily offended listeners. The print edition of this book includes an exclusive short story, which is not available on ebook. It is also gross and disturbing.

I liked seeing everything through the mother's eyes

I wish it was longer but I liked the ending. It tied up the story perfectly in my opinion

Audible review only

If you have read this book, then you already know. I will keep this strictly about the narration of the book. The stars are for the NARRATION only

Hats off to Danielle for even narrating this book, she did a fantastic job bringing the words to life. Each character had a distinguishable voice. When I read the book I had a voice in my head for "The Guy", the voice she chose for him was almost spot on to what I thought he would sound like. The old ladies voice sounded like most old ladies you meet so spot on with that one. The other voices were just as good. All in all very great job

Disturbed

I enjoyed this book, it was a short listen but still quite disturbing. If you like dark stories this is a good one for you.

Gore but a bore

Eh... The car ride was the most enjoyable part of the book. I felt the ending scenes were… meh overall. The narration tho. Amazing!

Woof

This was my first dip into the splatterpunk pool. The story entertained me from beginning to end. Narration was great. Love that it was wrote by a woman, narrated by a woman. Only reason I took a star from story was because I thought the gore was a bit forced towards the end, like it was trying too hard to be disgusting. But, maybe that’s just how splatterpunk is. Regardless, definitely worth the listen and I’ll look into more of her work!

The most disturbing book I’ve ever read.

Although this is short, it’s definitely enough. If you like the macabre and being disturbed to your core then you’ll like this. I’m sure it says something about my mental health that I read/listen to books like this from time to time but that’s where I’m at. When a book gives a trigger warning in the middle of it about the upcoming content, I can’t just stop. I have to know if it’s as bad as they say. It was.
