Publisher's summary

Life can be good when your enemies think you're dead.

But Wynne has traded one set of foes for another, and a hunter in old tech armor wants him for sinister purposes. Neither fully man or machine, it's up to this new bunker core to rise up against all odds, using his wits and technology to prevail against twisted animal-folk, shining mutants, and threats literally from out of this world....

solid follow up to the first book.

I enjoyed Mark Boyett's narration, he is amazing, but there were a few times where the sound quality dropped and started sounding a little fuzzy.

The pacing of the story was good and felt like a natural build up in story progression. there were no major plot holes or moments where I felt the character didn't "earn" a win or moment.

So glad the second book is finally out!

I love this series. I have been waiting for this one to come out since the first day the first book came out. The only complaint I have is when the review of all the stats goes on and on. It really just seems like filler.

Good book

I liked the first one better. Felt anticlimactic on this one. Hopefully next one comes out soon.

I wish the books were longer

The story is unique and solid. It feels like your in a game, with a immersive world. The author does a good job of slowly opening up the world and allowing it to grow naturally.

Awesome, second book I love the journey.

Please make a third, What a great story. After listening to this story I listened to all of the thread bear series. Wonderful Epic however as happy as I am to hear the end of thread bears series, it and its stories it, and its side stories, its side stories have become repetitive and closed as they’ve already found their happy ending.
In this apocalyptic world with an intelligent core, who is a human struggling for his own humanity and the survival of those he loves would much rather now see the next chapter in this book rather than offshoots of the other stories.

Gratifying continuation of a long awaited followup

Andrew Seiple comes back strong book 2 of the series. There are introductions of new tribes and interesting characters as well as evenly pace forward movement of the story. While I appreciated the author's moderate use of stat dumps, the MCs stat tree is so long that when it does occurs, it brings the story to a mostly uninteresting stop. This is especially true for audiobook listeners. While a reader can choose to take their time analyzing the stats or easily skipping over them, this is not the case for audio listeners since the stats are recited at a pace that makes it difficult to make since of the updates and frustrating to have to forward past it without trial and error. This is a common problem with a lot of litRPG novels and it be better if the authors and audio-producers could find a way to shorten the stat-dump to only include changes to stat attributes that will have some significant effect in the next few chapters.

Still, I find this series highly entertaining, all the more s because of Mark Boyett's fine performance skills.

Entertaining, quality and well crafted.
Very nice for a quick bit of entertainment. Hopefully the next one comes quicker.

As great as the first.

Happy and surprised that his didn't rehash the first, kept things moving, and didn't introduce unrestrained power creep. Already a step above many contemporaries.

Good continuation of story

Love the further development of characters and background. More focused on story development than building of dungeon.
