Publisher's summary

When tragedy strikes close to home, Mickey Bolitar and his loyal new friends - sharp-witted Ema and the adorkably charming Spoon - find themselves at the center of a murder mystery involving their friend Rachel. Now, not only does Mickey have to continue his quest to uncover the truth about the Abeona Shelter and the Butcher of Lodz, he needs to figure out what happened to Rachel - no matter what it takes.

Mickey has always been ready to sacrifice everything to help the people he loves. But how can he protect them when he’s not even sure who - or what - he’s protecting them from?

Great YA novel

I read the first book in this series. The narration enhanced my enjoyment of this second book. It kept my guessing til all unfolded in the end. It is written in the same easy style as Coban's adult books. The wittiness makes his writing enjoyable. Can't wait to listen to book 3!

Harlan zcoben

this author and his books both Mickey and Myron are best ever to listen to especially when you have a long 8 to 9 hour drive. Time goes by in seconds and you really never want to stop the car. I wish I could find another author who can hold my interest this long. I do hope he comes out with more Myron bolitar books.

I loved it

I loved how this book just went right into the story where the other left off. It was a true page Turner for sure. I can't wait for the 3rd one.

Still loving this series!!

If you could sum up Seconds Away in three words, what would they be?

Coben does not let me down in this next book of the Mickey Bolitar series! We get to know Ema and Spoon more in this book which is so enjoyable! The crime plot is much more simple in this book less twists and turns but I enjoyed that bc it seems more realistic after the craziness in the last book! Coben has be laugh out loud as usual for all his books. Mickey is so stinking likeable!! These are easy reads but only because they are extremely well written not bc they are YA. This series is fast paced each chapter keeps you enthralled and never bored!!

Excellent!

This is a well-written suspense novel for all ages. The narrator (Nick Podehl) rocks the story in every way, and the writing quality lives up to Harlen Coben’s well-loved Bolitar series. If you liked those books, you will like this novel about Mickey Bolitar, Myron’s nephew, and his friends Spoon and Ema.

Teenage boy angst cubed

Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?

I enjoyed the story, as I enjoy all of Coben's work, but sometimes the drama gets a little silly. But in this case I think I am glad I listened to it rather than read it.

If you’ve listened to books by Harlan Coben before, how does this one compare?

I have listened to many Harlan Coben books, and this is probably the best.

What about Nick Podehl’s performance did you like?

Podehl's voice characterizations are very well done, and seamless. I always know who is speaking, which is sometimes not always easy with male and female characters, especially since they are different ages.

If this book were a movie would you go see it?

Probably not.

The story line involves teenagers it’s light hearted and I enjoyed listening!!! There’s not any graphic sex scenes or foul language which is another plus for me!!!! Suspense with light humor.

Excellent book!

Would you consider the audio edition of Seconds Away to be better than the print version?

This was an excellent book, but I can't compare it to the print edition. This book is a continuation from "Shelter" so be sure to listen to that one first. I was disappointed there are no more Mickey Bolitar books in they series yet. Hopefully there will be more in the future

Who was your favorite character and why?

Mickey Bolitar

i want Myron back but Mickey will do

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

I am a big fan of Harlan Coben and loved his Myron Bolitar series. I really miss that series but am settling for his new series. The Mickey Bolitar books are young adult books and this is the second in the series. Mickey is Myron's nephew. I still enjoyed it as an adult and would recommend it to a friend, reminding them it is a young adult book so they won't be looking for something with adult tastes.

What other book might you compare Seconds Away to and why?

Seconds Away starts up right where the first one left off and actually continues the story in certain parts. Definitely read the first one first.

What about Nick Podehl’s performance did you like?

He did a very good job. I liked how he changed voices and made Mickey sound like a teenager.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

The story was pretty far fetched and I had no extreme reaction but it did hold my attention and kept me wondering what was going to happen next. The end of the book makes it clear there will be another one coming up.

Any additional comments?

I really hope Harlan Coben will get tired of Mickey and bring Myron back.
