About this listen

A step-by-step guide to creating wholeness and healing your inner child using IFS, a new, cutting-edge psychotherapy.

Understand your psyche in a clear and comprehensive way, and resolve deep-seated emotional issues. Self-Therapy makes the power of a cutting-edge psychotherapy approach accessible to everyone. Internal Family Systems Therapy (IFS) has been spreading rapidly across the country over the past decade. It is incredibly effective on a wide variety of life issues, such as self-esteem, procrastination, depression, and relationship issues. IFS is also user friendly; it helps you to comprehend the complexity of your psyche. Dr. Earley shows how IFS is a complete method for psychological healing that you can use on your own.

Self-Therapy is also helpful for therapists because it presents the IFS model in such detail that it is a manual for the method.

I just wanted to add that the narrator does a Keanu Reeves impression for the voice of one of the people in therapy and it kind of takes me out of it lol

This book systematically explains how to do Internal Family Systems therapy without a therapist for people who want to stop sabotaging their own successes personally and professionally and heal from hurtful childhood experiences. I have worked with trained IFS therapists a few times and found the approach really useful, but until I read this book I didn't fully understand how systematic the approach could be, leading to a deeper, more complete healing of one's subpersonalities than easily found in the more intuitive, random sort of approach that therapists frequently fall into. Jay Earley has done a masterful job at laying the process out for anyone willing to do the work. This book is a real Winner!

An exceptional, transformatioal work.

I think this book does an amazing job explaining how to access self-energy and work with parts. Please be warned though IFS is very strong stuff and if you have a trauma history it is best to work with an IFS professional because this work WILL WORK!

I LOVE THIS BOOK!

I have been through therapy for many years and this is the first time I had clarification of how and why everything comes together. Thank you very much for this excellent book.

Amazing

Robotic narrator, but I could deal with it if the book were good. It's not. A combination of bragging too much about the efficacy of the IFS framework (too much tell) and low quality show.

Unusually annoying therapy book

just another guy taking Jungs work, giving parts new names, new jingles, in hopes if just the right combination, hoping it goes viral. John Bradshaw was very successful with this in the 90s, with his inner child work, books, seminars.
Don't think this book will ever reach the popularity of Bradshaw Inner child work series if books thst helped me so much. The narrator seems pompous.

After 7 chapters it strikes me as

I did not buy into this authors belief system. I don’t believe in having all these independent psyches living within us. I only made it through the first chapter. I believe it is me, my brain, my thinking, my actions that cause me to do the things I do.

The material is great if you're interested in IFS, but I found after a while that I became increasingly irritated by the narrator - ESPECIALLY the terrible accents and 'acting' of the sample dialogues. I started and couldn't finish twice.

Narration and production are weak.
