Who says you can’t sizzle in the second half of life? At last, a solution! In Slim and Sexy Forever, Suzanne Somers outlines a program specifically designed to address the needs of women and men who want to lose weight and replace the lust for life that naturally wanes with age. In this “baby boomer’s recipe for the fountain of youth,” Suzanne shows you how to:
- Melt away the unwanted pounds
- Reinvigorate your sex drive
- Capture youthful vitality
- Devlop a more positive outlook on life
- Sharpen memory
- Eliminate hot flashes
- Achieve optimum health from the inside out
In her runaway New York Times best seller The Sexy Years, Suzanne changed the way we look at our health and hormones, showing how replacing hormones lost in the aging process with natural bioidentical hormones can eliminate symptoms associated with aging.
Now, in Slim and Sexy Forever, Suzanne combines her cutting-edge information on natural hormone replacement with her successful weight loss program, Somersize, for a one-two punch that is the only proven solution to the problems associated with aging. Working with innovative doctors, Suzanne has created a program that alleviates symptoms such as mood swings, sleepless nights, hot flashes, and diminished sex drive that are so common as we get older. Simultaneously, her phenomenally successful Somersize program shows you how to beat a stalling metabolism and stay lean and trim while eating remarkably delicious food. With millions of people losing weight on the program, it is a proven formula for success. Suzanne makes clear in this fascinating new book that if your hormones are out of balance, you will not be able to lose weight. Weight loss must be approached with a twofold strategy as you get older: balance your hormones the bioidentical way and eat correctly. One doesn’t work without the other.
In Slim and Sexy Forever, you’ll also learn:
- The truth about carbs: Depriving yourself of too many carbs will lead to hormonal imbalance and weight gain. Eat the right carbs to lose weight!
- Plateau-busting tips: Suzanne explains why you hit plateaus and exactly how to push past them to achieve your goal weight.
- The connection between adrenals and weight gain: If you blow out your adrenals trying to be Superwoman, you are going to gain weight and feel fatigued. Find out how to prevent that from happening.

Critic reviews
“This program is specifically designed for dealing with weight loss in the second half of life. This is for the baby boomers. Our weight loss needs are different from our younger counterparts. When I was young, I could go on any diet and lose as much as I wanted—and fast. After forty, it’s not so easy. This program is the only one that addresses the issue of hormonal imbalance. You will not lose weight until you fix this problem.” —Suzanne Somers
“I lost almost 60 pounds three years ago Somersizing, but going through the change piled it back on. . . . Then I realized why—my hormones were so out of whack my body wasn’t working properly. Then I saw you on TV discussing The Sexy Years. . . . Within two weeks of starting my compounded natural hormones, I noticed my symptoms diminish, and the weight started melting off too! I’ve lost 28 pounds. I exercise daily, I’m eating fabulous foods (desserts too), my hormones are back in balance, and my darling husband of 30 years is happy to have his vibrant wife dragging him into the bedroom again! I will be a Somersizer and Bioidentical girl for life.” —Sherri Elliott
“Everything is so delicious and satisfying. . . . One thing is better than the next. I lost 160 pounds in fifteen months and have been maintaining now for about four months. And the best part is, I feel fantastic.” —Carol Ann Friedman

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
Yes. The information given is proven scientific ways our body works. It's similar to the Jillian Michaels book about hormones that affect the body. Every person should know & understand how their bodies change after 40. The proof is in the results -she's gorgeous! How would you have changed the story to make it more enjoyable?
Slow down! I love her chatty way of speaking but sometimes she speaks so quickly that I was constantly hitting the rewind 30 secs button. The audible app on my iPad & ph have a narrator speed adjuster but when I slowed it down by .5 it was too slow. How could the performance have been better?
Speaking slower in parts. Though I must say that there is no mistaking her passion for what she wants to convey to you. I love that! Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
For the most part yes. Getting all the hormone info into my head took a bit more time. The 1st half of the book talks about hormones and how they play a huge role in weight balance. The 2nd half of the book talks about her weight loss plan "Somersize."I didn't understand the entire way of replacing hormones naturally through bioidentical hormones and it seems that one still needs a doctor's intervention to make that happen. I was hoping for a more natural through nature solution -as in the foods we eat or not eat. I understand well now why I have the "7 dwarfs" of my body after forty. I was shocked to learn where synthetic hormones come from -ewh.
Any additional comments?
I read Suzanne's 1st book "Eat Great Lose Weight" in 1996 and this audio book talks about that program & expands a bit on it. I had no idea she was so cutting edge back then. Looking back she had it right about the fad diets of Low Fat, Low Carbs, High Protein, etc. & how they don't work -this book explains why. As with Jillian Michaels and others she promotes kicking out the processed foods, artificial sweeteners, & caffeine that is hurting our bodies.Solid Information

If you could sum up Slim and Sexy Forever in three words, what would they be?
Must know information. What about Suzanne Somers’s performance did you like?
The conversational tone and lack of clinical words helped make a serious subject understandable and even entertaining. Her descriptions were clear and the information was complete, not just a tease to buy something else.Any additional comments?

Would you listen to Slim and Sexy Forever again? Why?
Yes, I will listen to it again. There is a lot of information to absorb so I am sure that I missed much during the first listen. What other book might you compare Slim and Sexy Forever to and why?
I have not read anything regarding bioidentical hormones before this book. There is a lengthy portion regarding her Somercize Diet recommendations. What Makes Us Fat - this is a similar read. The author of What Makes Us Fat is about Protein and Fat in the diet and the harmful affects of Carbohydrates in the diet. Suzanne Somers does not recommend cutting out Carbohydrates completely - she advocates adding good Carbohydrates back into the diet after excess weight has been lost.Which character – as performed by Suzanne Somers – was your favorite?
Suzanne Somers does a good job narrating her book. One can definitely hear her passion for this subject. Sometimes she speaks so rapidly that I had to back up a listen to a passage again. If you were to make a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?
N/AAny additional comments?
A pdf file would be helpful to accompany this book. There is so much information shared regarding bioidentical hormones and diet, I will have to take notes during my next listen or by a hardcopy book.If only the Medical Community was so Educated
