Full of Facts and great Advices
I really like Jillian's books. I bought this book for 2 reasons, the title and that it is Jillian.
I actually lost a lot of weight lasst year and reached my goal, but then i thought, i will never gain weight again if i eat what i want now.. big mistake...
In this book Jillian helps you understand perfectly what is right and whats not.. and you can set a better and reasonable plan to reach and maintain your perfect weight.
If i had this book last year, i wouldn't have made the mistake of gaining almost 40 lbs, now i'm in the same song i was in before losing that weight..
What i mainly like here is that she comes and gives you fact and disapproves a lot of meths..
This book does not focus only on food and exercises, it talks about medicine, house products, and other products that are used daily.
And the best thing is that you don't have to follow all these advices, she gave a case for everyone , so it pretty much covers everything.

Good starting point
Basic information with common sense . Easy to follow. Love Jilian Michaels. Great tips.
My only issue, please do not tell your server you have a food allergy, such as gluten or dairy, when it is in fact a preference to be healthy. Yes restaurants are happy to have your business and yes they are happy to accommodate! However when you say allergy an extreme amount of care is taken to avoid cross contamination and the server takes extra steps as well. Just be honest you aren’t eating dairy or carbs and the restaurant will still happily accommodate.

Good Advice, but Probably Better in Print
I don't agree with all of what Jillian Michaels says, but I like her philosophy overall. . Although it's nice that Jillian reads it herself, the lists, URLs and point system aren't really conducive to audio -- I think it would be more useful to read it (and then maybe listen to it as a supplement or reinforcement).

Very informative and easy to listen to....
I have recently been completing Jillian Michaels workout DVDs and was keen to listen to this book. I have learned so much about what NOT to put in my mouth, and if I do, how it will affect me. Processed food has taken on a whole new meaning!
If you are really interested in getting healthy and staying that way, this book provides excellent and sensible information and I think (after making the decision to get fit and stay that way) that it is well and truly do-able.
I found that some of the information is very much related to the USA (I live in Australia), but I still found the book useful and helpful.
I have also found many helpful hints regarding exercise - what to do and what not to do.
All in all, I was very impressed. I would certainly recommend this one!

When was this written?
Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?
No, the info in it is very elementary and Jillian seems like she is trying to be too nice in it. I specifically bought this book because I needed some tough love. If I would have wanted to be coddled I would have bought a book from the other biggest loser coach!
Would you recommend Slim for Life to your friends? Why or why not?
No. Because as an Audiobook it is terrible it is perhaps better in print because your eyes can scane over all the times she says W W W dot AMAZON dot com. or whatever website she is trying to direct you to. I appreciate that she is trying to direct us to resources but feel like this book is written for octogenarians. Look you can tell me just to go to Amazon for something or to go to the Amazon website...I think everyone in America knows that there is a www. before and a dot.com after. It is not necessary to spell out website after website. It is simply annoying.
How did the narrator detract from the book?
spelling out websites....being too nice...is she trying to make up for the fact that biggest loser portrayed her as a tough coach? I empathize with that but think everyone knows she is nice and she doesn't have to prove it. I bought a book about fitness and diet to be told things by a tough coach not some up for a Miss Congeniality award!

There is good information, and you can make it work for yourself. She says the more you do the better the results. I wish there was a pfd with the websites and questions. I listen at work and don't have a way to write them down. Although I don't want to spend the money, I may buy a hard copy for that.

This book does not work well as an audiobook
This book would work much better in paper form -- it has lots of lists and web links and quizzes, which don't translate well to audio. I am a huge fan of Jillian Michaels but it is painfully dull to listen to her spell out web links that I couldn't really use anyway.
A better way to have executed this would be to put the tips in audio and have a companion PDF file with all the links, quizzes, and other similar material. That would have been much more useful and made the audiobook more engaging.
