About this listen

A woman must learn to take life by the throat after a night out leads to irrevocable changes in this juicy, thrilling novel from the USA Today bestselling author of Such Sharp Teeth and Black Sheep.

Sloane Parker is dreading her birthday. She doesn’t need a reminder she’s getting older, or that she’s feeling indifferent about her own life. Her husband surprises her with a birthday-weekend getaway—not with him, but with Sloane’s longtime best friend, troublemaker extraordinaire Naomi. Sloane anticipates a weekend of wine tastings and cozy robes and strategic avoidance of issues she’d rather not confront, like her husband’s repeated infidelity.

But when they arrive at their rental cottage, it becomes clear Naomi has something else in mind. She wants Sloane to stop letting things happen to her, for Sloane to really live. So Naomi orchestrates a wild night out with a group of mysterious strangers, only for it to take a horrifying turn that changes Sloane’s and Naomi’s lives literally forever. The friends are forced to come to terms with some pretty eternal consequences in this bloody, seductive novel about how it’s never too late to find satisfaction, even though it might taste different than expected.

Critic reviews

"As beautiful as it is horrific, So Thirsty is a potent ode to love in its many forms. Rachel Harrison weaves a dark and gruesome tale of true friendship’s ability to transcend both death and undeath."—Chuck Tingle, USA Today bestselling author of Camp Damascus

“The addictive latest from Harrison is by turns gory, rage-inducing, eerie, melancholy, and hopeful… a smart, scary, and occasionally sexy page-turner.”—Publishers Weekly

“With a realistic protagonist who faces choices that are sometimes scarier than monsters, this book will have readers sinking their teeth in.”—Library Journal (starred review)

I enjoyed the friendship between the two main characters.

Very different book than I normally listen to.

Thirst is satisfied in multiple ways. The sub-storyline is bizarre but meaningful to the differences in their relationships.

Thirsty for more

I have read all of Rachel Harrison’s books, I think this one is my favorite. I do wish the main character would’ve stopped going on about being so old at 36. It isn’t that old. That’s my only complaint.

Narration is not the right match

I think I would have waited for a library copy if I had heard a sample before preordering. There’s something about Kristen Sieh’s narration of “Such Sharp Teeth” that made me feel that she should always narrate Rachel Harrison books. Sieh adds a mesmerizing cool girl vibe that keeps me spellbound. This will not be one of my listens that stays in rotation when I want to be charmed and compelled.

Rachel Harrison I love you

Does she ever miss???? This is her best book yet! More gory than the others and just as fun with a deep meaning that she doesn't have to hit u over the head with or be pretentious about because she knows u and she knows you'll get it...bc she gets it. 5/5 I absolutely LOVED this

Decent writing, not what I expected for the story, kinda depressing.

The writing itself was good and engaging. I thought from the description of the story it was gonna be more of an adventure of a woman finding herself. It was way more depressing of a book for me because the main character had an internal dialogue of worry, self denial, contemplating what was right or wrong… and being angry at her best friend for perceived wrongs well loving her fiercely, and she also didn’t liked herself that much. The book revolved around this unlikable main character’s mental struggle. It was much more about her internal word and thinking than the adventure around her. The last couple paragraphs/how it ended redeemed it from a 2 to 3. If you are looking for a vampire adventure, or a fun read I wouldn’t recommend this book, it is much more in the vein of how women are conditioned by society and revolves around the female main characters mental struggles and thoughts based on that, and maybe gaining a self awareness to break it. I just wasn’t expecting it to revolve around her thoughts and internal war. I am sure some other people may enjoy it.

Short and to the point.

Cheesy and I needed it. Fun book! It’s like a palate cleanse! You need a break, this is it!
