About this listen

The amazing Spider-Man launches into his most harrowing adventure as a trip to Florida turns into a deadly race to prevent disaster! The Lizard is wreaking havoc throughout the Everglades, as he seeks a cure for his dual identity as the reptilian villain and the human scientist Dr. Curt Connors -- the result of an experiment gone horribly wrong.

Spidey's attempts to halt the Lizard's rampage lead him to a web of intrigue and danger that may spell the destruction of a space shuttle launch. The action heats up as Venom, the alien symbiote who wants Spider-Man dead, arrives, targets the Lizard for death, and won't let anyone stand in his way!

Spider-Man must save the shuttle, halt the Lizard's rampage, and keep Venom from destroying the Lizard and the helpless scientist trapped inside him...before it's too late!

Lacking and disappointing

Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?

Story was written for kids with little consideration for adult readers and listeners.

What was most disappointing about Diane Duane’s story?

I expected a story worthy of the Spider-Man brand. Instead I got a rushed story tailored for children.

Would you listen to another book narrated by the narrator?

The narraration was fine. Kept the reader engaged.

Could you see Spider-Man: The Lizard Sanction being made into a movie or a TV series? Who should the stars be?

This story would not translate to the big sdcreen. Feels more like a cartoon than a two hour movie.

wish it was the full story! it was good, but just so abbreviated. I did like the sounds and voice casting. to me it puts you in the element.

Get the other version

I already listened to the one with a single narrator, and it sounds much better.

Good fairly typical spidey story that's fun and well paced...

The only downer, and it could easily be my kindle, were a few minor sound hiccups that didn't have any critical effect on the story. Ignoring those, it's a fun, well paced story with a good cast and music, making it unusual as an audio book. Perfect for relaxing.

Your Spider Sense Will Tingle

This is a good multi voice performance of Duane's novel. Throw in music, and sound effects and you have a modern version of an old time radio show. My only complaint? It is abridged. I wish we could have had an unabridged version. Nevertheless, this is a fun listen. It was perfect for treadmill time.

Don't Come Near This

Even if you are a Spider-man fan don’t waste your time. The story itself I don't see how it got published it’s so bad. The presentation comes off like a badly acted radio drama and not a reading at all. It's just my opinion but do yourself a favor and stay away from this mess. This gets
a big zero rating from me on all levels.

Freaks my son out

What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?

Not be told in such a dark manner.

Any additional comments?

Too scary for my 6 year old son to listen to.

Not appropriate for children 7 or younger

thought it would be fun for my 5 and 7 year olds (both big spiderman fans) but found the story to be quite violent... bad guys getting killed, machine gun sounds, and more.
