About this listen

Greetings, friend! Rest here for a while and listen—I have a quest for you.

How would you like to begin an apprenticeship in the mystical craft of artificery? You'll learn things that most people can only dream of. You'll make swords with self-sharpening blades, bows that fire by themselves, and clocks that can read the future.

Even better, you'll get to live in the sunlit village of Sunhampton, a sleepy little crafter's village of cobbled streets, cozy taverns, and pleasant bakeries.

If this sounds like just the life for you, then grab a beer and a sweet roll, and follow Lewis as he begins his new life as an apprentice.

Lewis comes from a family who don't regard him much, so he sets out on his own into the world, intent on securing an apprenticeship in an interesting profession. What he doesn't expect is to find himself studying one of the most mystical arts in the land.

It'll be hard work. Perhaps even dangerous work. But with an old artificery master to teach him, and the friends that he makes to help him, he's sure he'll get there.

Why not get yourself over to the cozy town of Sunhampton and join him on his quest?

Thoroughly enjoyed this audiobook. Look forward to hopefully hearing more in this series. Great, likeable characters, setting and story.

Great slice of life crafter gamelit series

At the moment of writing this, I’m at chapter 22

I got this book because of my love for artificers. Of magic craftsman and tinkerers using science and magic and technology to create incredible things. This book was not that. Instead, this book was a very slow buildup with not much progress in either the class of artificer, the main character, or the story in general. There was less actual magic crafting, discovery, on innovation then I expected . And there was a lot of focus more on the Mercantile aspect of it all which even by reading the description was unexpected.
The narration while not awful, was quite monotone and monotonous at times. In fact, I caught myself falling asleep while listening because it just started to drone on and on. The story itself isn’t bad per se but it’s not very interesting, at least to me. I’m gonna stick it out until the end and then see where I go from there. More than likely at this point I see myself getting my credit back.

Not great, not bad either… just decent.

Great narrator, simple slice of life with light litrpg elements. I’d love it a little longer per book, but I really enjoy this story, keep it going!

Very simple and peaceful slice of life

A touch of litRPG with a strong story This isn't something with action this is a slice of life something that you just listen to while you're by the pool it's everything it's nice and just shows a strong ability as a writerAnd it shows that this is somebody who's just In there toes into the Genre of litRPG Hopefully I'll continue and put more litrpg into the next book Who knows this could be the start of a sub genre

Touch of letPG with a strong story

This was a genuine delight to listen to. No world spanning drama or conflict that defines an era, but rather a solid story of a boy learning a trade, about life, and making friends along the way. If you want something a bit more down to earth but still has that fun fantasy and magic flare, you won't go wrong here. I definitely see myself listening to this again in the future, which is about as high of praise as I can give anything.

Warm and Comfy

lovely slice of life crafting book

The story never swayed too far from its core of crafting, decent breaks between bouts and never too complicated. A lot of stories like this tend to give the protagonist some sort of broken ability and/or single minded characters, this has none of that. You really feel like the main character earns his skills and his interactions!

Love the crafting! Great story!

Nice story, but you may want to slow down the speed when listening to this cozy story.

Relaxing, slice of life book.

This story is good. Interesting magic system.
Very good characters.

The narrator nearly destroys the book. Almost no difference between characters or narrative. Might have been better if they just did text to speech.

Good Story Bad Narrator
