Publisher's summary

At seventeen years of age, Renan Saneris was still waiting for a talent to come up.

While everyone around him got a Class and could move on with their life, he was still waiting for Fate to finally tell him what would become of him. He tried his hand at Smithing, Sword Fighting, and even at being an Artisan, but he never got many results for his efforts.

One look at his Aetheric Record was generally enough to humble him as he had no skill beyond the basic level. He had no skill trees, no saving experience, and no class features.

One day, however, when he’s messing around in his father’s forge, etching small symbols into a blade as a gift for his best friends Yana, the glyphs start glowing and awaken something in him.

New Class Acquired! Artificer: Level One

Artificer? What in the void was that? He had never heard of such a thing, and no one around him seems to have a clue either. Still, Renan is determined to find out how it all works so he can help the community with his new powers.

When strange shadows attack his village, and he barely manages to chase them away with one of his new creations, he decides to join a group of Adventurers to investigate the threat and make sure everyone will be safe. In the process, he learns that his mysterious Class may be more than meets the eye.

Renan thought that getting a Class would be an end in itself, but it turns out it’s only just the beginning—the beginning of the Artificer’s Chronicles!

Mix bag

The story overall is well written and some of the decisions make sense, but the villain was very easy to find once hints dropped, especially if you're familiar with it. Not a fan of the MC one moment being brave to the point of suicide, but randomly scared and cowed in a situation he has more control over then the villain.

Excellent fantasy story and reading

I was very immersed in the story. Excellent world building. Good story pacing. Good dialogue. Good voice acting. Minimal narration. A mystery builds during the story and you watch the main character learn his adventure class for the first time, discovering it as he does. Details of the world are given bit by bit leaving you wanting more. There are no long boring speeches or narration to interrupt the flow. Can’t wait to see what happens next

Great Story

My biggest problem with the book is that it is too short. I wanted it to keep going. A great start to what I hope will be a great series.

Great book - lots of character growth to go through and the start can leave you frustrated but as the book goes on and the growth happens it becomes more an more captivating. Can’t wait for book 2

Pretty good story

Story was good, i just thought mc didn’t really act his age with his decision making ( or maybe he did) the way he made choices made him seem 12 and not 17 and that really irked me.

Enjoyed it

Definitely on the interesting end of books on here for fantasy or lit. Looking forward to the next one. Doesn’t really cover much ground but it was an interesting listen so that can be forgiven.
