Publisher's summary

Free from the clutches of the kingdom, yet slaves to fate.

Ryl, the phrenics, and their meager army make for the security of the Erlyn Woods. As the cost of freedom continues to mount, their hold remains tenuous at best. New additions to their army present unexpected complications and danger. Choices that will define the future of Damaris hang in the balance.

The army from Cadsae Proper marches in their wake. Control, coveted for ages will not be ceded willingly. Or without a fight. Outnumbered by thousands, Ryl is forced to choose between defending the tributes or reclaiming a friend, stolen from their midst.

Will his quest end in rescue or revenge?

Whispers of darkness taint the light of change. For better or worse, the kingdom is changing by the moment.

So, too, is Ryl.

please bring back Travis

I absolutely love the story but I dislike the new narrator. I would not bother listening to another book in this series if it's the same narrator.

It was nice to finally get a continuation tho I did slightly miss Travis baldrees voice but since it’s been so long it wasn’t too hard to get over I plan to get the next books

Great story, boring audio

The first 3 audio books that were read by Travis Baldree were very captivating and voices done for the different characters drew you into the story.
Sadly, because the author changed readers/performers, this book dragged on slowly and painfully boring.
This is nothing against the new performer he was very crisp and sharp with his reading. But his style almost seemed like he was performing and reading a play script from Shakespeare.

Aylen Sucks

Great book written really well story is on point the only thing about it that killed the momentum was Aylen. He was just kinda there, always getting in the way slowing Ryl Down being a hindrance , and a utterly useless consort altogether. He’s a decent friend to Ryl I guess, but one who should just be a third side chat at who’s around occasionally that’s it. Anyway those are my thoughts on it don’t let this stop you from listening to this book though it really is amazing.

Makes you want more!

Ok, it took time to get into this book because of the new narrator and not quite as good of a start as the first 3 books but I want to hear the other two books! I’m hoping that they come out in September and October on Audible.

Long Awaited

This was a great addition to the long awaited continuation of the series. I was a little disappointed to not have Travis Baldree back as narrator, but I have to admit the change didn’t ruin the story for me as it usually does when this happens.

It is a little jarring when when character’s name change due to pronunciation. For example; Travis pronounced the hammer wielding Phrenic as “Rom” but Eric pronounced his name as “Ram”. Other than that, I have no complaint.

The story, as expected, was well written and engaging. I look forward to the next book of the series. Hopefully it won’t be as long as it took to finally get this one.

SO Good!!

Book Four of the Catalyst Series by C. J. Aaron lives up to the promise of the first three books! This book ended in a way I didn't expect, so I'm eagerly going to dive into book five to see what happens next. I preferred the narrator of the bundle of books 1 through 3, which is why I gave the performance 4 stars.

Ruined another good series w narration change

loved everything about the 1st 3 books, but then you swapped narrators....bad decision there. good voice, but poor execution. no fluidity, poor tonality...hes not acting/telling a story, hes reading sentences. annunciation is great and all, but not if it gets in the way of the flow or immersion aspect of the story/chatacters and interactions. n quit accentuating the 1st word of the majority if your sentences when reading...COMPLETELY throws the mood off, and it becomes grating after awhile. sorry narrator, you have potential, but need some work polishing your craft.

can't change readers in the middle of the story.

travis baldree was clearly making the author look better than he is. i give the first 3 books a solid 5 stars. this one was boring. i found myself zoning out and had to keep rewinding. I will not be finishing the story unless Travis Baldree is reading.

Travis Baldree?

idk why yall changed the narrator but Travis tells a story. This new guy reads sentences without context. The difference is too much to continue, got about half way through before I abandoned it.
