Publisher's summary

The small weak League of Losers has truly lived up to its name—after all, it managed to make a slew of powerful, very dangerous enemies right from the start. It is now time for Sergeant and Whiskers, his ginger kitten, to leave the sandbox for the big world. The players have leveled up enough to pass through the barrier enclosing the sandbox, but, as luck would have it, it isn't the best time to make their escape. A bitterly cold winter is drawing near, and nobody is ready for it. Worse still, none of the primary combat units—the huge arachnoscorps, creeping crocodiles, nor the reptilian fighters and mounts are adapted to surviving in the cold.

Sergeant and his friends are going to have to use all of their ingenuity and skills to contend with the dangers they'll inevitably encounter in the big world, and to also build a shelter for themselves as fast as possible to withstand the freezing conditions in the harsh new primordial world.

A fun continuation

I really loved the first two books and this is still really good. I feel like by the end, I am still curious how the characters develop from here but I am less sure how the story might progress from its ending point. It could be the end of the story where he leaves it but did not seem to wrap up either.

The ending ends the series for me.

How the ending of the story comes about should have resulted in a chain suicide. I'm now disgusted with both kitten and sargent. I don't care for ether of them now.

It's clear the ending was rushed...because it basically turns into a shit show...and there can never be any trust again.

If you like the prior books you'll like this one...up until the ending...then it depends on your moral & ethic compass.

The ending could have been tense...but it really does jump right to the nuclear option...and there isn't anything really that is presented to walk it back from that...hence the chain suicide comment...which you wont understand till later in the book.

I want to rant about the ending and how it portrays both MC's...but it would do nothing but spoil the book...and there is much to like about the book...just not the ending...I"m honestly conflicted...because of the ending I want a refund...but by the same token...everything prior was worth it.

Twisted Ending but great book

I've found all of this series fun and an easy listen. The ending to this book isn't in line with the tone/feel of rest of the series, but it is a change and doesn't necessarily ruin the series, it actually opens up many more opportunities. Especially considering the girl that was in love with who is "running" Whiskers, and since they're the same, they should get along, like yin and yang so it doesn't destroy the story.

I look forward to the next book. I see it is released on paperback but am awaiting it on audible. It's a fun ride that doesn't strain emotions too much to let he humorous bits show through.
