About this listen

The Gamble: Booktrack Edition adds an immersive musical soundtrack to your audiobook listening experience!

Life isn't meant to be perfect. It's meant to be lived....

Nina Sheridan thought she'd found the perfect man who would become the perfect husband. She was wrong. When Nina realizes the man she planned to grow old with doesn't know her at all, it's time to rethink her idea of perfect. And what better place to get her life in order than a remote Colorado mountain town halfway around the world?

Gnaw Bone, Colorado, may not be flashy or cosmopolitan, but it's got a brand of hospitality all its own. Nina isn't entirely sure she's ready to trade the life she thought she wanted in England for cozy evenings in her mountain retreat, and she definitely isn't sure she's ready to handle the connection she feels to the owner of her rental house, Max Holden....

Nina didn't come to Colorado to find love, but even the best-laid plans can go awry. Now, if Nina can let go of her past, Max - and a future in Gnaw Bone - might just be the perfect second chance she's been waiting for.

*Booktrack is an immersive format that pairs traditional audiobook narration to complementary music. The tempo and rhythm of the score are in perfect harmony with the action and characters throughout the audiobook. Gently playing in the background, the music never overpowers or distracts from the narration, so listeners can enjoy every minute. When you purchase this Booktrack edition, you receive the exact narration as the traditional audiobook available, with the addition of music throughout.

Ok book

The music in the book bothered me. It was a little too sappy for me

Loved it!

I enjoyed the characters and the plot so much that I didn't want the book to end. When it inevitably ended, I started it all over again

Continual background music

The music that constantly plays in the back ground is very annoying and distracting. The story is good but the “production” music is horrible

Music

The music absolutely ruined the recording. I muddled through it because I wanted to hear the story but if I found another one with that kind of music on it I would return it.

Background music has a negative impact on listening experience

Another brilliant book that I had read as e-book before listening to this audio version. Frustrating to have an otherwise good performance negatively impacted by the constant background music. Frantic searches for «turn music down or off» didn’t lead to any results.

The music UHG!

I absolutely loved this book. But hated the music. It added nothing to the story. It was too distracting. If I could have turned it off, I would have. Now for the book. It was great! I thought I was get tired be y it was so long, but the story had many twists and turns and you just have to love Nina. This book is worth a credit just buy it without the music.

I hate the Booktrack

I will never again purchase a audible with booktrack. It’s distracting and plays cheesy, smooth jazz elevator music and awkward moments that don’t match the scene of the book. It’s like the worst soundtrack ever!!!

Distracting music

The booktrack music is really distracting and would be better without it. I think the narrator helps to paint the picture of Nina and do not mind accent.

Background music

Hates the background music. So distracting and does nothing for the story. Please don’t do this any longer.

A story of DV

The main character falls in love with man who is both emotionally and physically abusive, the but the author disguises this abuse as “mountain man” loving behavior. I only listened to the end with the hope that she would realize it and leave.
