The Big Fat-Burning Science
All forms of carbohydrates - fruits, vegetables, grains, and starches - are broken down into glucose by your body, increasing your blood sugar. Your body considers raised blood sugar toxic, so it releases insulin (a storage hormone) to push the glucose into your cells. Once this occurs your blood sugar decreases, making you hungry again.
This vicious cycle of blood sugar highs and lows is why you experience endless hunger and cravings.
The release of insulin halts your body's ability to release fat and toxins. If you're eating carbohydrate-based foods every two to three hours, your body is never fully able to exercise its ability to rid itself of excess. Helpful for newbies
I thought this book was super helpful and short enough to get a very basic understanding of the Keto diet. I agree that it was quite annoying how the author mispronounced a lot of words. However, I did like that she talked about her food journal even though most people felt it was pointless. It's helpful to know what the first month will look like. Overall a good book!

Great book for beginners
So thankful I found Leanne's YouTube video's as well as this book. I have spent years in bad health from Metabolic Syndrome to stomach issues. I tried Vegan, Paleo, Atkins and too many others to mention. Keto just sounded good from the start and her podcasts and videos have helped me begin my journey of health. She speaks to you, not at you and never claims to be the authority on all things Keto. She shares her research and personal trials and errors. I've been Keto for about 2 months and my stomach is healing and I have cut my meds for blood pressure issues in half. My mind is clear and my moods are great. I couldn't have done it without her guidance.

I love the information it provides. Exceptionally good explanations about how to adapt to the keto life style. . However, this book did not include file to download for the 30 day meal plan that's included. I couldn't get it on the website either.

So helpful!
This book gives a great breakdown for beginning a keto diet. I would definitely recommend it for beginners. I eat a whole food plant based diet, so there are some things I disagree with, but overall the information was very helpful and science supported.
She refers to some resources on her website. I’m excited to check them out!
