Publisher's summary

When legends come to life, the world trembles from a single name. Ronin. Once-heroes from a different age, they wield elemental powers: wind, water, fire, stone, forest, sun, moon, flesh, and metal.

At the same time, a young man discovers his best friend with a sword in her stomach and dark wings sprouting from her back. Guards rush to the scene and accuse him of the act, and he is forced to flee.

In a new world without his memories, Gray must find his way amid legends and darkness, as he wrestles with an elemental power inside himself. A power all too similar to the infamous Ronin.

wow... just wow...

Alright, I might have a wee bit of bias, full disclaimer, but? I really believe you're going to enjoy what lies beyond. TGR is amazing. The narration brings every character to life, and overall... this vast world and unlikely assembly of vivid characters are just the beginning. If any of this reads young or simpler, book one is a set up for the grandeur and the maturation of a world to come. A world of legends, darkness, moral ambiguity, despair, triumph and hope.

I hope you enjoy it and what's to come in the world of Farhaven as much as I did!

Gripping from the start!

My first foray into high fantasy and it did not disappoint! I heard great things about this series from my friends. Wolf's writing style pairs super well with the narrator's voice. I can't wait to listen to book 2!

Great performance, decent story

Tim Reynolds does a fantastic job narrating this story! but story has grand scope with a weak villan not not much character development till near the end. good action, but maybe the series gets better.

The love of the craft is obvious

You can really tell that the author loves the world be built and imagines it in a much larger view then what he barely explained in thus book. scratching the surface of the history he put in before even writing this book to make the reader wonder about it. Truly impressive

Good narration, story okay

Hard to keep listening all the way through. Tim Gerard Reynolds was great narrator, but story was lacking.

The Knife's Edge Delivers!!

I have been so excited to get my hands and ears on this novel and I was not disappointed. The storytelling, character arcs, world building and continuation of the saga are all wonderfully done by Matthew. The narration done by TGR is great as always and makes the book fly by and seem shorter than it really is. Matthew's books are appropriate for Young Adults to Adults and I recommend them highly.

Most refreshing read in a while

I'm a big fantasy fiction reader, and I've read just about everything there is out there from the big names, and I've been trying to be a little bit better about reading books from authors I don't know yet. I met Matt at a convention once, bought a hardcover from him but never got around to reading it. When this launched on Audible, I picked it up and began reading and I am happy I did!

Matthew Wolf is a consistently good writer who knows and understands his characters. This is definitely the first of many epic books to come, and I look forward to the many hours it will take to get through them all!

As always, Tim Gerard Reynolds has fantastic delivery and tone. Backed the second book on Kickstarter and can't wait to start reading!
