About this listen

Six extraordinary children are trying to lead normal lives in the Rocky Mountain countryside. They live in different homes, with different families, but there is something powerful that connects them. Something that puts them in terrible danger.

The only time they've ever felt safe was when they were together in the waterfront cabin they call the Lake House. And the only people they've ever trusted are Frannie and Kit, the couple who rescued them from unimaginable evil once before.

When that evil resurfaces, the kids reconnect with Frannie and Kit and set off on an astonishing adventure. They flee to the Lake House, but even that haven may no longer be safe.

Dr. Ethan Kane is chief of surgery at Liberty Hospital, one of the most esteemed hospitals in the nation. It is here that terrible secrets lie, secrets that will change the world for all of us.

The other James Patterson

First of all, do NOT read this book if you have not read "When The Wind Blows" or you will think it is shallow and he is incapable of plot development. On the other hand, if you have read the prequel to this book, it starts off with the gripping action that Wind Blows had. It then settles down a bit and is an entertaining book about some naive special kids, a naive vet and a naive FBI agent ... OK, he was cast in a pretty poor light, but, again, if you read his first book in this series its pretty good. It is NOT an Alex Cross book and it is by no means anything like The Jester. This is something different, and I bet he'll stay away from these types in the future.

The Lake House (Unabridged)

A good sequel with an interesting, although at times, predictable plot line. The "bird kid" characters are developed more and are enjoyable. If you did not read the first novel, it must all seem very strange; plus parts of the story are told several times, from several different character viewpoints. This results in a story that jumps back and ahead a few times. I can't understand all the bad reviews -- it was an enjoyable read.

Intriguing, Kept me listening!

I really liked this book and liked the way it shows love between adults and special children. Then there was that evil doctor! I thoroughly enjoyed it!

The Lake House - A Real Winner!

My husband and I listened to this book together and both loved it!!! The use of two narrators keeps it interesting as the narration follows the characters - one for good, one for evil. Although long, the use of co-narrators and an outstanding story line, keeps the book moving and the listener actively involved.

An excellent read!!!

Give me MORE!

This was an excellent book. I love fantasy. However, I did find myself thinking maybe I had gotten an abridged version due to some choppiness. I did not realize that this was the second book. Now I will go back and get the first one. I feel that the people who gave this book bad reviews probably aren't science fiction/fantasy fans. If you are this is an excellent choice. If you aren't skip it.

A good read but it is not 10 hr. It’s 5:30 it repeats again

Great little read, but it’s only 5 1/2 hours not 10 which makes me a little upset because it just redo the whole book again, but I still enjoyed it and will continue to listen to this author

The Lake House

Because I enjoyed this book, I feel compelled to write a positive review; it is unfair to James Patterson to allow 5 negative reviews to stand alone. I found the story entertaining, well written, and moving at points. Had I known it was a sequel, however, I would have read (listened to) the first volume since references to what went before were necessarily abreviated. If you can suspend your disbelief about flying bird children, it will be an enjoyable listen.
