Publisher's summary

Four friends set out to fix their crumbling magical world in the exciting fantasy-adventure sequel to The Fabric of Reality.

There's a disturbance in the Prime Kingdoms. The system that everyone depends on is generating errors. The gods are in danger. Magic itself is fluctuating and becoming less reliable. Meanwhile, four adventurers seem to be the only ones to realize the night sky shouldn't be empty . . .

Outcasts all, this foursome has become a family. They are Sev, a healer with a penchant for sacrificing too much; Misa, a half-orc woman never afraid of a fight; Vex, a lizardkin wizard grappling with his feelings for one of his teammates; and Derivan, a sentient suit of armor who's learning to deal with, well, feelings in general. Together, they are on a diplomatic mission for their guild, traveling to the kingdom of Elyra to provide emergency relief as magic continues to malfunction and crops fail to grow.

But while this team can hold their own in battle against bandits or simple dungeon monsters, the complex mysteries their realm continues to throw at them are another matter. For now, all they can do is try to make the world a better place. And that's exactly what they plan to do—until they arrive in the town of Fendal and everything there seems just a little too perfect . . .

The second volume of the hit LitRPG adventure series—with almost two million views on Royal Road—now available on Kindle, Kindle Unlimited, and Audible!

As good as the first one.

If you loved the first book you will probably love this one as well. Great characters, interesting world, deep friendships. There is a slight romance that I did not care for at first but grew on me. In this book we learn more about the world, magic and Vex's story. Wonderful book, amazing narration.

I liked it, can't wait for the next one!

Overall I liked it, not sure why so many people thus far seemed to not like it. I love the, gay? Errr different relationship blooming, and the very intriguing setting of this world. Admittedly the spolier-personified entitiy-end spoiler, felt eh, though that ending was top notch. I worry that the magic system the artist is developing is becoming too much, and hopes it doesn't get either too confusing or too inrealistic for the setting, but overall it seems reasonable. Also maybe I missed it but there seemed to be nothing about the gods in this book which is slightly annoying... Lot happened though, so overall I'm pretty happy. I don't think they act as children per se, as I read in a comment but more a tight not group with diverse history. It's probably how I would've wrote them as well. Tbh, the only glaring thing is the weird slime stuff... Please keep up the hard work though! Can't wait for the next one!

Good story overall

I enjoy this author. The story is engaging and it kept me pulled in EXCEPT the romance in this book felt forced and really "teen angsty". It was jarring for those scenes, which felt thrown in. That is a minor complaint, good story overall.

Odd LitRPG

What happens when a LitRPG world starts to break down?

This is a very strange book. I had never really considered the idea of surrealistic LitRPG, but this seems to be an example. The plot is odd, and often difficult to really follow. This isn't aided by the occasional switches to other points of view. But even with that, it is rather compelling.

Of the four main characters, only Vex and Derivan are really explored in this volume, though their development is well handled. Sev and Misa largely work in the background. While this makes some sense for the story being told here, I'd rather see more about the entire ensemble cast.

A final note: the ending of this book is not a resolution of much of anything. It's not quite a cliffhanger, in that the protagonists aren't in imminent mortal danger, but it's cliff-hanger adjacent.

I'm not sure where this story is going, and I'm not sure how much I want to go there with it, but it is unique and it's not unenjoyable.

YA Robot and Lizard Man Romance....

Not really sure what to say. This story has a lot going for it and I was really curious to see where the story would go from here. However, the characters act childish. The relationship the book focuses on seems odd and a bit forced. I find myself cringing and have 9 hours left on this one.

Good story, stops in a middle of a sentence

I like the characters, the plot is fun and original and it doesn’t have far to go to be great. And then there’s the lack of an ending, just stops in the middle of a sentence.
I’ll be getting the last book once it is released on Audible though.

Sweet and Adventurous!

SLIGHT SPOILER ALERT!!
The romance blooming between Vex and Derivan is adorable and the plot is unique, fun and exciting all the same time! the world building here is incredible and I have found myself sucked into the plot and falling in love with the characters! It ends on a slight plot cliffhanger making me super excited for book 3 but not such a cliffhanger that irritates me, as they're all safe for the moment (I hate it when books end with the characters in danger). The last book was focused mostly on Misa and this book is mostly centered on Vex and Derivan I hope next we learn more about Sev and Onyx! overall this is a 5 star read and I highly recommend it if you loved book 1 as much as I did!!!
