About this listen

A determined young woman struggles to uncover the secrets of the System itself—before the unthinkable happens—as this LitRPG adventure continues.

Transported from Earth to an entirely new planet, filled with magic and monsters, Alice Verianna has not only had to figure out how to survive but to learn and grow while she's at it. But what's really driven her from the time of her arrival is the desire to investigate—and determine the true nature of—the seemingly omnipotent System that holds sway over all things in the world of Luliv.

Alice takes a major leap forward when she finds a patron researcher who helps her gain admittance to magic school, where she gets to study everything from self-defense to monster biology. But the more she advances both academically and personally, the more she suspects something might be wrong with the System itself...

Adding to the danger and darkness, the enigmatic Society of Starry Eyes has been working in the shadows, conducting experiments with broken mana and human beings—to horrifying results. With the Society growing ever bolder and the land on the precipice of disaster, can Alice discover what's wrong with the System before it's too late?

The second volume of the hit LitRPG adventure series—with almost two million views on Royal Road—now available on Kindle, Kindle Unlimited, and Audible!

I really enjoyed the book. Cant wait for the next one! The author takes a interesting perspective on what the science of magic might look like

Musing on the possible science of magic

This was a good thought provoking book that was a good variation in its genre.

Would recommend.

I do appreciate that the authors gotten better from the first book and I enjoyed the first book. Small kind of spoilers (there are a couple unfinished plot points that I wish had been resolved and I don't really understand what the cliffhanger means for the main character going forward or what they can do about it) overall good book.

I only wish there were more

This book was as good as the previous one in the series if not more so.

the only improvement they could benefit from would be separating the stat reads into sub chapters so they can be more easily skipped.

They have started to get a bit long by this point, and are often unfortunately dropped into the middle of chapters.

Good world building. Otherwise slow but engaging

I’m really enjoying this series. I like the world building, and the characters don’t feel too one dimensional. I’m not sure everyone would agree with that last statement, given the laser focus on research, but it kept me very engaged right to the end. Really looking forward to the next book

Great Improvement

The first entry was good, I think that the author has a bit of a repetitive writing style, and while the full status read offs are a bit pace-breaking, the story is engaging enough to get around that. the improvements to the storytelling and overall fleshing-out of the world are noticeable, and was a enjoyable listen.

if I had to give a slight critique to the author, it would be to diversify their descriptions, especially in regards to describing a character's expression. I distinctly remember the phrase, "... a smile tugging at (character)'s lips" coming up a lot.

A cliffhanger this time!

The first book left me curious about the next arc as a hey I sort of like the story so why not. But this second book's ending actually felt like a proper cliffhanger. Now I'm excited to find out next.

One complaint I have as an audible listener is listening to her full status sheet for several minutes in response to a question if she can still do one of her abilities, instead of her just answering the question was really annoying. It made me think for a second I had accidentally fast forwarded to the end of the chapter.

increased support from the system.

great story loved almost all of it except for the fact you destroyed the system before explaining what the increased support was.

A fantastic expansion on the first book

Love where the story is going. Excellent voice work. A great book for those interested in applying the scientific method to weird fantasy stuff.
