Content made this worth it for me
Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?
After hearing this book, I bought the print copy as a reference manual. I've been following this diet for 2weeks and have seen incredible changes in my health. I wouldn't have had the time to read the book in print and probably wouldn't have finished it because it's somewhat repetitive. I don't really like the author's inflection when she's trying to make a point (sounds fakey), but I love the content of the book!

I followed this diet and can now wear the clothes in the very back of my closet that were too small for me for many years. And I feel better, just more energetic, more well.
I did also buy an ebook copy because I wanted to be sure I got everything right, but the author explains and motivates in the audiobook in a way that might not come across as well in print.
I'm an older woman who has always eaten healthy, but some wholesome foods weren't helping me to maintain an ideal weight. This elimination diet let me figure out what does and doesn't work with my particular body chemistry. After resting my system according to the book's instructions, I gradually added back the eliminated foods. It was readily apparent which ones triggered excessive appetite and which ones were satisfying for me.

I don't understand why the other reviewer said there was not enough info on the foods to replace the 7, she offers tons of ideas and states why they are better for you, and loads of research is cited.

So far (after only two weeks), I've lost 7lbs 1.5" from my waist, and .5" from my hips! :) I can't express my happiness since NOTHING else has done it for me. I'm looking forward to actually hitting my ideal weight!

I'm on board!
I've just started this diet TODAY so perhaps I'll come back and revisit this review in the future, but so far this is reasonable, matches with the science I've read elsewhere, and gives me confidence because of the healthiness and balance of the foods. This seems to me to be do-able. I have hesitated in the past to purchase books that were "read by the author" because of the aural grating irritation that it has proven to cause, but JJ Virgin does a really great job. She sounds genuine and friendly. I only resent the $70 shakes that she sells on her site that are highly recommended for 1 - 2 meals a day. However, in researching similar vegan, soy-free, organic shake mixes, I found that her price is either at par or lower than the others on the market. So. Off I go to get healthier!

Finally some help
Amazingly I've battled intestinal issues for over 2 decades (I'm pretty young). I've seen specialists, naturopaths, gone through intense times with many many different bathroom aides(not meaning to get gruesome) to no avail. I'm a small person so no concerns with over weight. It's actually been the opposite. Because food causes so much pain and anguish throughout my entire digestive tract, I always struggle to eat. I got to the point where I mostly ate peanut m&ms, bananas, coffee, tea, spoonfuls of peanut butter when I was desperately hungry and cigarettes to ease the pain from hunger. After week one (although I did eat some of my daughters tres leches birthday cake and paid the price) I was able to go to the bathroom on a daily basis. (at one time for a period of several years o was going 2-3 times every couple of weeks) I decided that this would be a way of life. I cant imagine going back. My body has been begging me to take away gluten, eggs have always made me nauseous, and dairy has always wreaked havoc. Splenda was the tough one. But I haven't gone back. Was it worth the try? Yes, for me it has been life changing
