About this listen

Dave Smith is having a bad day, week, month, maybe even year. Freshly unemployed, facing eviction, and now he's been transported to a fantasy world. A wish come true for many a geek, if only he hadn't died less than a day after he arrived.

Now trapped in this fantasy realms version of purgatory, he faces the prospect of trying to navigate a new existence as a dungeon. That wouldn't be so bad, except ending dungeons seems to be the path out for many of the other denizens of these Proving Grounds.

To make matters worse, the deities of this place have taken a special interest in complicating his stay, for their own as yet unstated reasons.

On the upside, he has a new body.

Downside, most of the raiders in his region are bearded dudes or ugly and orc like. What's a guy whose life experiences include gaming and working a series of crummy customer service jobs to do. Answer. Work the system, be as obnoxiously obstinate as he can be, and bend every rule like it's made of rubber.

Oh, and whine, just a little bit; well, it is all very unfair.

Can't wait to read the next entry. I thought the world building was very thought out, and the explanation Devan gives at the end on how he wrote this book, and what he would have changed is simply gold.

I thoroughly enjoyed it!

While I haven't experienced many dungeon core series I thoroughly enjoyed this one. Devan Drake does does a good job making both the characters and world interesting. The narrators Jonathan Waters and Maeve York both do excellent jobs bringing the characters and world to life. I am looking forward to the next book as well as the rest of the series.

A great start excited for more

This book was a bit slow to in places but not a bad start to a new series. It had an interesting premise and I enjoyed the world building and was left interested to see where the story would go in the future. The series did get better in book two and was quite good by book 3 I thought.

****

Be warned. The author ends the series in book six without finishing the story.

Not a bad start.

I enjoyed this book very much. It started of a little slow with the explanation of how the dungeon is run, but to be honest I didn’t mind. I thought the book transition through the storyline perfectly. I was surprised about the battles between the dungeon. I thought that was new and interesting. The spicier scenes came into place naturally, it wasn’t over done. I GREATLY appreciate that, maybe because I’m a female. But I can’t wait to read the rest of this series.

This was a really good Book

Dungeon core novels can be hit or miss sometimes it gets repetitive. I enjoyed this one I like the fact that even though the MC is a core he is given a physical avatar to interact and gets involved in battles.

this isn't a love or romance novel. it's strictly lust. Don't pick it up if you are seeking some deep love story.

it's was a good book. dungeon core kind of novel

I loved this book. The story was great. The afterword made sense to me and was quite informative if not intriguing. If it were not for the females narrator’s lack of enthusiasm during scenes I’d put this in top 5. She did in fact do good with acting.

Absolutely phenomenal

while I think that once sex got started it was a bit over the top. The story is good and fun. I was ten minutes in and got a juvenile dick joke, and a ghost busters reference... I was sold from there.

really good
