About this listen

National Bestseller.

From Seth Godin, one of the world's most influential business thinkers and bestselling author of This is Marketing, comes an essential guide to thinking strategically in a complex, ever-changing world.

"With his signature clarity and brevity, the marketing maven presents memorable, practical advice for making smarter plans."—Adam Grant, author of Think Again

In this unique and thought-provoking book, Godin shares insights on strategy through a series of powerful reflections and observations that will reshape how you approach problems, make decisions, and create change.

“Creating tomorrow by repeating yesterday is not a useful way forward.”

“Every strategy requires choice. And those choices often involve saying ‘no’ to things we could do, but won’t do.”

“It’s not easy to persuade someone to want what you want. It’s much more productive to find people who already want to go where you’d like to take them.”

This is Strategy is a modern classic that offers perspectives you'll find yourself returning to again and again. Rather than providing step-by-step formulas, Godin offers something more valuable: a new way of seeing and thinking about the challenges you face.

You’ll discover how to:

- Identify your "smallest viable audience" and make remarkable work they can't ignore

- Understand and influence the systems shaping our world

- Prioritize long-term thinking over instant gratification

- Make smart, purposeful choices that shape a better tomorrow

Who this book is for:

- Leaders who want to think more deeply about their impact

- Entrepreneurs tired of conventional business advice

- Change-makers seeking lasting transformation in their career and community

- Anyone feeling stuck in outdated systems and looking for a fresh perspective

Strategy turns our effort into impact. Your journey to better thinking starts here.

Instantclassic

Usual brilliance from Seth. Unfortunately there are a lot of duplicate takes of lines that seem to be in the recordings, as if a non-final version was uploaded instead of the final edit. I found it pretty confusing to listen to at points due to things repeating.

Other than that I love the lessons in here.

Solid Seth! Less solid production.

As always Seth provides a plethora of insight and analysis that will give you pause and ideas. There are quotes to be shared, viewpoints to be considered, and strategies to be amended.

However there are a number of editing mistakes where a prior take was left in along with its retake so you hear the line or phrase twice. It’s not in every moment by any means but often enough that it should have triggered a full review.

It can also break the flow. But you get back into it soon enough. So know that and move forward if Seth - or a non-standard but super spot on - viewpoint is your jam.

Seth unveiling truths

A bit difficult to grasp Seth’s tapestry on first listen, but doubling back it’s clear that Seth is a master.

Great foundational thinking and actionable ideas organized into bite sized pieces.

Seth is lapping every other thought leader.

Lots of technical issues with this audiobook

Seemed like multiple take of the same line were included so you hear the same sentence back to back pretty frequently

Simple to follow

Simple to follow and great short examples. I would recommend this to anyone who is interested in getting a strategy started quickly if in crisis.

Very Lazy Book

Godin is one of the smartest, most unique business writers. This effort is far below his potential. Disconnected points that are not worth a standalone Niezstchean approach. Ironically, there seems to have been very little strategy put into this book.

Lack of story and continuity

Seth Godin is one of my favorite authors. I love hearing him on podcasts and his audio books. However, this book is simply a long grouping of blog posts, almost in an outline form. I think it would make a great desktop calendar with one topic for every day. But as far as a book goes, I'll have to read his other titles.
