The story was awesome! The performance was awful!

Loved the story !!
The performance was awful! Performer emitted panic when non was called for. Practically had to keep my hand on the volume control most of the book. When panic was called for and necessary, The performer shreeked at a decibel that left my ears ringing well after the book was done. I would really like to read the second book, but my ears can't take it. I purchase audible books so that I can drive while listening. But in this case I had to keep my hand my cell phone volume control during the whole book.

Good Zombie Book

What did you love best about This Would Be Paradise?

A good solid zombie story. Great characters, nice setting, good twists.

What was one of the most memorable moments of This Would Be Paradise?

I cannot really say without being a spoiler.

What three words best describe Carly Robins’s performance?

Excited, Spirited, and jagged

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

not so much, it was a good distraction, and solid book.

Any additional comments?

After 3 failed zombie books, my review is against all books not just the genre. The last three zombie books I read were disappointed at best, so a solid book without strange garbage was a nice surprise. So to put it bluntly, this is the only good zombie book I've listen to so far on Audible.

This would be paradise

With so many zombie genre our it’s hard to find a good story! I loved the book but the reader wasn’t good at all. Her voice would pitch at wrong times sometimes so loud my speakers would distort. I did like the book though :)

enjoyed

I enjoyed this 1st book. narrator was decent - males voices is not her strong suit - they all sounded the same - definitely not a true southerner trying to use a southern accent. all in all she did well.

The ending dragged

The ending dragged once the Survivors separated. Bailey reminded me of Sylvie from the My Dead World series. She was very annoying by herself. Super whiny, and just pathetic as an individual. She is not a strong, standalone character. The child, Chloe seem more mature than she was.

Could be better

Written from perspective of a young woman on college vacation. Obviously, from the point of view of the writer and their perception of their stereotypical view in the world.

a great story, but needs a better narrator

This story was good, i feel like it could be an amazing story with a better narrator tho, narrator voice made several parts very hard to follow and i had to relisten several times to get the point.

Pretty Good Zompoc

I’d give this 3.5, leaning on 4 so I’m rounding up. It’s nothing groundbreaking in terms of the zompoc genre. The characters were kind of flat, I didn’t really connect with any besides Bailey and sometimes she was just a little annoying going from naive and dumb to the smartest one in the room. I did find the father’s reaction pretty spot on but wished more had been explored instead of a timeskip. I wish there had been more substance between the characters when time skips happened instead of just getting to the next section of action. We got one brief flashback of all the characters hanging out. Hoping for more in the next book! Overall, I enjoyed it. Just some things I think the author could do better with is fleshing out the side characters and relationships more with story instead of being told who they were and how it was felt about them after their death

I agree with other reviews, The narrator had too much inflection and didn’t always match the mood of the words. Her cadence was also a little hard to follow along with as she’d pause and then go on but it wouldn’t match how she had been previously been speaking. The male voices sounded the same and was hard to configure who was who until a dialogue tag was said. Definitely has potential and not the worst I’ve ever listened to
