Publisher's summary

Thrust by a mysterious portal into an unknown world, Nick Barnette does what anyone would do in his situation: he runs. Now separated from his friends, and being pursued by powerful forces he doesn’t understand, Nick must navigate the Kingdom of Lhasa and figure out how to get home.

Through his trials and tribulations, Nick notices that he has developed a strange power that allows him to slow down time, vastly improving his combat ability. But he doesn’t have any control over the power. And as far as he knows, the only way to cultivate this new power and find his friends is by studying the Way of the Immortals, an ancient tradition practiced by monks and hermits high in the mountains of Lhasa.

It won’t be an easy task, but if anyone is up to the challenge, it’s Nick, who might be the most unconventional hero the Kingdom of Lhasa has ever seen.

Way of the Immortals: Path of the Divine is a western cultivation series weaving Tibetan and Bhutanese lore into a fast-paced novel that xianxia, wuxia and progression fantasy fans will love. Way of the Immortals is written by Harmon Cooper, best-selling science fantasy GameLit author of series like Fantasy Online, House of Dolls, Cherry Blossom Girls, the Feedback Loop, and Monster Hunt NYC.

not for me

if you are one pf those that likes it when the mc gets beaten by someone badly and then forgives them completly just because they are a pretty girl that the mc fancies then this novel is for you.

he isnt really smart ether I mean even the Most abvious things that he hears or sees.

it is well writen for a novel but it isnt ny cup of coffie.

decent story

I reviewed this when it first came out and this review is better the second time because I know the second and third to the series is out. this author is the king of the cliffhanger. he will stop a book anywhere. I like most of the stories he tells but I will not start anymore series from this author until 4 or 5 books are released.

Not bad

Got the book for free.

So, this is a really interesting take on Karma, Rebirth, being dragged against your will to another planet, and how much of a butt that one friend in your group can be without really trying too hard.

Our MC is a man without any goals in life, he simply exists. He gets dragged to a savage and brutal world with a couple of his friends and is immediately set upon all sides by everything wanting to kill him in one way or another.

He's a good guy who wants to help others and just wants to get his friend and find his way home. Destiny, on the other hand, has plans for him which he's not going to like at all. At times be seems incredibly naive and walks headfirst into situations best left alone, at other times he seems to understand things that no one else does.

Our MC is slowly coming to understand that the only way he'll get what he wants is to figure out his new abilities, retrieve his friends, fulfill a prophecy which he doesn't have a complete version of and possibly die. It's going to get interesting before he gets home but luckily enough the world has plenty of beautiful women and talking animals to help him along the way.

Overall, a solid introduction to a crazy and savage world, an MC who doesn't quite get it yet, and a path to immortality that no one seems to understand. Needless to say, I'm looking forward to the next book in the series.

Good Characters, premise. rush execution

Feels partially completed. Ending was rushed. Cultivation background is unique, characters are different but one dimensional. MC grow in powers very easily

This book was an interesting start to a series. I finished the first 3 books in just a couple days.

Great new series!

Already being a fan of the other works of Harmon Cooper, this one was a nice surprise, because it doesn't take place in the universe where his other books take place. The MC is very likeable and the creatures he encounters are fun and entertaining. The story itself is a bit chaotic at times and the MC's power development progresses more in big leaps than gradual growth, but that also add's to the story's speed, and was not a problem for me.
Can't wait to read the next instalment.

Just wow!

The fantastic combination of story and narrator choice sucked me in immediately. I lost hours just being engulfed by this book. I cannot wait for the next one. But what else was I to expect from the author of my favorite series. Keep it up, and keep this fantastic narrator throughout!
