About this listen

Every year, millions of withdrawn little girls and chronically overwhelmed women go undiagnosed with Attention Deficit Disorder because they don't fit the stereotypical profile: they're not fast-talking, hyperactive, or inattentive, and they are not male.

Sari Solden's groundbreaking study reveals that ADHD affects just as many women as men, and that the resulting depression, disorganization, anxiety, and underachievement are also symptoms of ADHD.

Newly revised and updated to reflect the latest clinical research, the book explores treatment and counseling options, and uses real-life case histories to examine the special challenges women with ADHD (Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder) face, such as the shame of not fulfilling societal expectations.

Included is a brand-new chapter on friendship for women with ADHD. Three empowering steps - restructuring one's life, renegotiating relationships, and redefining self-image - help women take control of their lives and enjoy success on their own terms.

It's like she's telling my life story .

This book motivates women to embrace their ADHD. Love your gifts vs hating your disorder.

Game changing content

The valuable content in this book FAR outweighed the monotone narration in my opinion. I was able to do other things while listening (driving, walking, laundry, coloring, cooking etc.) which really helped me to focus on the material. The detailed descriptions of what ADHD looks and feels like resulted in several tearful “ok-so-it’s-not-just-me” moments. It might be painful to get through for some who struggle with attentive listening but if multitasking is a strategy that works for you, I strongly believe what you get out of it will be worth the investment.

Excellent book for female ADHD'ers

this book started me on the road to self acceptance at age 50. My husband found it by chance at a thrift store and bravely suggested I buy it. I'm so glad I did. Thank you Sari for helping me feel less alone and less crazy.

This book has changed my life

After having ADD all my life and being diagnosed finally 3 years ago, it's not been until now, after listening to this book, that I'm starting to understand that being ADD isn't just a list of deficiencies but rather a legitimate state of being. I can't recommend it enough.

Life changing and profound

I haven't even finished the book yet and I can already tell you, it has changed my life. I recognize my story in this book in a profound way that I've never been able to quite articulate. I never imagined the ADD label might apply to me, until recently, and reading this book is such an affirmation of all the mysterious difficulties I've had managing the most basic, mundane parts of life. This book answers the question of why, as a highly intelligent and creative person, I can't seem to get the laundry done or get my kid to school on time, and why I feel constantly overwhelmed, overstimulated, and overworked. Sari, thank you. I'm really grateful for this book.

Great content, AWFUL narration.

The monotone narration made it very difficult to follow and engage. It was downright painful at times. It was all I could do to finish it! The book itself is wonderful and very informative!
