About this listen
An invaluable resource for couples in which one of the partners suffers from attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), this authoritative book guides troubled marriages toward an understanding of and appreciation for the struggles and triumphs of a relationship affected by it and to look at the disorder in a more positive and less disruptive way. Going beyond traditional marriage counseling, this discussion offers advice from the author's personal experience and years of research and identifies patterns of behavior that can hurt marriages - such as nagging, intimacy problems, sudden anger, and memory issues - through the use of vignettes and descriptions of actual couples and their ADHD struggles and solutions. This resource encourages both spouses to become active partners in improving their relationship and healing the fissures that ADHD can cause.

Drug therapies, our understanding of the role of diet and exercise, even the way we define the disorder, all are changing radically. And doctors are realizing that millions of adults suffer from this condition, though the vast majority of them remain undiagnosed and untreated.

Sari Solden's groundbreaking study reveals that ADHD affects just as many women as men, and that the resulting depression, disorganization, anxiety, and underachievement are also symptoms of ADHD. Newly revised and updated to reflect the latest clinical research, the book explores treatment and counseling options and more.

Once upon a time, Martians and Venusians functioned in separate worlds. But in today's hectic and career-oriented environment, relationships have become a lot more complicated, and men and women are experiencing unprecedented levels of stress. To add to the increasing tension, most men and women are also completely unaware that they are actually hardwired to react differently to the stress.

Book is SO helpful!
The book is extremely helpful for those who are seeking more information on how ADHD affects relationships. It is spot on. The one thing I did NOT care for is the narrator's Jody Foster-esque voice. It gritted on my nerves at first, but I got used to it.

Very Insightful and Easy to Read
This book helped me feel seen. It put words to the patterns that we have been living in our relationship, providing me the language to begin the hard conversations and giving us manageable actions to take. It was also very easy to read and understand the concepts proposed.
Also, contrary to other reviews I thought author was very thoughtful with interchanging the genders between the perspectives. Seems widely applicable to all being impacted by ADHD.
It also gave me hope!

Great resource to improve marriage!
I’m a non-ADHD spouse looking to learn more about my husbands ADHD and how it influences our marriage. This book gives practical recommendations for BOTH spouses. It was very well balanced and suggested healthy ways to involve professional help, seek treatment for BOTH spouses, and made a clear boundary where ADHD stops and abuse begins. She is very clear on what is unacceptable, even for someone with ADHD. I finally feel like we aren’t crazy, we aren’t suffering alone, and the work that’s put in to treating symptoms and their effects with benefit BOTH of us greatly. Very worth the read!

Mixed emotions.
This book has a lot of good info for couples struggling with ADHD in their marriage. It is worth listening to. Be aware, however, if you are the partner with adhd, go into it knowing this is very heavy on the non-adhd perspective. If you are listening to it together, the non adhd partner should remember that, for someone with rejection dysphoria and resentment that builds up because of it, your partner might need to take breaks and listen to this book in chunks. I have adhd and it is very hard to listen to her drive home the same point over and over with the shared stories. I know validation is important for my husband, so I am glad he can feel that people relate to him and understand how he has felt. Just remember to use this book for the tips it has and be sensitive toward one another’s feelings while listening to this. I can’t imagine this is an easy book for anyone that has ADHD to listen to.

Necessary!!
I have ADHD and I am married to a Non-ADHD. This book helps IMMENSELY. It gives specific tips that both side WILL need almost on a daily basis if not, daily. If you're in a marriage already and are struggling, you need this book, it will save your marriage. If you just got married or are going to get married and either of you have ADHD, I Highly recommend this book to know what exactly you're getting yourself into and better prepare yourself with the tools that you WILL need.
