About this listen

Popular science audiobook on ADHD in women interspersed with real stories from amazing ADHD women

ADHD girls and women often fall under the radar. This rigorous and accessible audiobook connects current research (which until recently has mostly focused on men) to the lived experiences of girls and women with ADHD, weaving in their personal struggles and breakthroughs throughout their lives from childhood and the teen years through to motherhood, menopause and beyond.

Family doctor, psychiatrist, and international ADHD expert Lotta Borg Skoglund combines years of experience in the treatment and assessment of ADHD with the powerful testimonies of the women she has encountered along the way, exploring issues such as hormonal changes, emotional regulation, organisation and concentration, relationships, work, and treatment. She provides valuable tips and insights along with powerful strategies as to how ADHD girls and women can achieve the self-understanding they need to live lives to their best potential.

Diagnosed at age 61. discouraged from medication because of the shortage, and younger women need it.

CBT mentioned but no resources.

One podcast recommended 26 books to read about ADHD so I made a list and started last July (listening) to all of them.

I watched your webinar for ADDitude. I obtained the Letterlife app shortly after that.

There was a link to this book in one of the articles from last week. I didn’t realize you had a book… so of course I bought it and listen to it. This is my 34th book.

Thank you.

This book and others like it about how ADHD manifests differently in females could be life-changing for girls who are diagnosed early as well as their parents. Like it or not, the world has different expectations for girls ... and ADHD is not kind to girls who have it. As an adult who was only diagnosed at age 50, this book was very validating for me, but it offered little for me beyond that.

I highly recommend this book! Not only is this book great if you have ADHD yourself but it is a MUST READ for everyone you know, love or who works with a girl or woman with ADHD.
This is a great book with authentic testimonies from real women diagnosed with ADHD as adults framed by a comprehensive overview of the research about hormones and female specific challenges with ADHD.
