Reader is too snarky and make it feel mean

The audio copy has allowed me to consume the book in my limited time, but the book is written with dry wit and a bit of sarcasm and the reader’s rendition makes it feel spiteful and mean toward the adhd partner. I found it was making me feel down about my situation, until I started imagining another voice.
The book is definitely intended for the non-adhd partner. I doubt someone with adhd could get very far into this audio version without feeling disrespected. It is good info so I stuck with it, but wish it was less snarky. The structure of quotes and callouts also make the flow awkward in audio.

Great book for Neurotypicals!

Promotes understanding on both sides. Pam’s reading was appropriately sarcastic and entertaining but also conveyed the serious impact ADHD can have on couples trying to manage and survive.

Informative

Very informative. I got the book because I suspect my spouse has ADD/ADHD, but now I think we both may have it. I’m in the process of being evaluated by a psychologist and hope my spouse will agree to be evaluated as well.

Must read.

This is a great book for anyone struggling with or trying to understand ADD. However, the long numbered lists embedded within other lists made me think I had ADD. Otherwise, it is full of useful information and a great introduction to the topic.

Validating and Eye Opening

This book helped me not only understand and empathize more with my ADHD partner, but also validated the feelings and experiences I’ve had as a direct result of their ADHD.

Very Helpful

This book was very helpful and timely, even though it's a few years old. I especially liked all of the real life case studies and support group people comments.

Loved it!

I’ve never felt so understood as someone who lives with a person with ADHD. I’ve read a lot of books about ADHD since finding out, and this is by far the best at articulating the experience.

Eye Opening

Very useful in encouraging me to take back control of my life.
I think people offended by the book mostly feel defensive/ guilty about learning what ADHD does to themselves and others.

Excellent, insightful book, however the reader diminished the experience

Excellent content, an insightful book, however the reader diminished the reading experience. She often has a demeaning, shameful tone in her voice when referring to examples of AADHD. I would highly recommend re-recording with a different reader, especially as the majority of the readers likely, themselves, struggle with AADHD.

Very helpful, evidence-based information

We just found out 2 weeks ago that my husband likely has adult ADHD and this book was amazingly helpful as I start to learn what this all means. It validated so many things that we have dealt with in our marriage for years. It gave so much clarity and insight. I also appreciated so much information from experts in the field, based on scientific evidence. I am so glad I listened to this book and would recommend it to anyone who suspects a loved one may have adult ADHD.
