About this listen

Janine Driver was trained as a lie-detection expert for the ATF, FBI, and the CIA and is a New York Times best-selling author (You Say More Than You Think). Now, she makes a powerful and incontrovertible declaration: "You can't lie to me."

Driver - who is known in professional circles as "the Lyin' Tamer" and has demonstrated her world-renowned expertise on such programs as The Today Show, The Dr. Oz Show, and Nancy Grace - now offers listeners essential tools that will enable them to detect deceptions, recognize a liar, and ultimately improve their lives.

For fans of Never Be Lied to Again by David Lieberman and anyone worried about the possibility of cheating partners, devious coworkers, lying employees, or ubiquitous con men, You Can't Lie to Me will help you uncover the truth in any situation while giving you the skills you need to keep yourself happy, your family safe, and your business protected.

This book gave me applicable techniques and insight to be a better observer and establish a baseline for those who throw a red flag.

I found this book packed with useful information, though it includes some self-promotion. It’s one of those books you might want to revisit to fully absorb the ideas presented. Beyond offering tips on lie detection, the book includes skill-building exercises and relatable examples from everyday life. These features make the content engaging and practical. I recommend this book to anyone interested in improving their ability to detect lies.

Worth multiple listening

I wish the author had narrated this book. I have seen her do TED talks and this book would have been so much better had she narrated it.. The actual narrator was only slightly more human than Text-to-Speech apps on my phone or PC. However, the information contained in the work is good, at least for the person wanting to know more about identifying possible deception. It will definitely be a listen-more-than-once part of my library...just for the content.

Could have been so much better

Wish Janine would have narrated her own book. Great content so far and I’m sure more coming because I’m not done yet but I’m having a hard time! The robotic voice makes it difficult to continue!!!

Good content, miss the author’s personality

I really liked this book. I like it so much, I want to listen to it again….except…I cannot abide the voice of the reader. The female voice performer sounds like a bad impression of Siri. She over enunciates and draws out words in very strange places. She sounds inauthentic which is particularly poor for a book all about detecting deception. If this performer speaks like this in her everyday life, I would avoid her. I would not be able to trust her.

Very interesting and useful

A recipe for a neurotic approach to life,
Dated notions and ignores completely cultural diferences.

Dated notions

Too much time wasted on filler. The narrator does sound like a smart assistant Making concentration on the subject difficult. Would not recommend this version but would highly recommend the actual source material.

Too much filler

The author should have narrated her own book. The audible is failed by the narration that sounds too robotic.

Narrator isn’t the best

Narration is unbearable. Subject is intriguing however the narration removes interest in the subject. It’s a dull sluggish pace with the annoying robotic voice relaying the information. Read the book yourself.

Interesting but unbearable narration

Lots of filler. Narrator sounded like an electronic voice. No useful information. Total waste of money.

My "B.S. Meter" was wailing.
