Half way into the book & had to write a review

I’m half way into the book and just HAD to write a review. This book is INCREDIBLE. I’m not done with it yet and I already intend on rereading it. Almost every sentence is powerful in some way. It’s concise- to the point but still remains validating and engaging. Today I read chapter 2 and balled my eyes out. It was a good cry- a much needed cry. It felt so good to weep for my inner child and not feel ashamed for having that emotional response. I’m 27 years old and am JUST NOW learning how to identify & process my own emotions. I felt as though this book was written for me. If you experienced emotional neglect as a child, I HIGHLY recommend this book.

Great tactical advice

Great advice! It’s helping me heal...

My childhood was rough. I grew up with a father who was just downright mean for no reason. My mother was stuck in “Lala land” and just didn’t have a clue how to care for 3 children. It’s amazing to learn what you don’t know and how to reparent yourself. I really appreciate this book for helping me face my early childhood trauma so I can identify and release my pain to actually start healing

I have so much insight since I’ve listened to this book. I can see the light at the end of the tunnel that leads to a better life. This is a book that I need to listen to at least twice. Highly recommend this book.

Too old to keep holding on to the pain

I realized now that I’m older, I've been letting my anger control too much of my life. I had an emotional breakdown at a family gathering and realized that I really needed to seek help. FOR.. ME.. After going to a few therapy sessions and reading books on this topic (including this book) I realized that I’m too old to keep holding on to my childhood trauma and allowing my mother’s issues to trigger me. I really enjoyed this book.

I really appreciate the action steps provided.

This book is highly recommended for people who are looking for ways to heal. I’ve been on this self-healing journey for a few years now and just now starting to understand the importance of re-parenting your inner child. It’s such a weight lifting off your shoulders understanding your unmet needs as a child. Now, it’s time start living the life I want as an adult. Thank you Olivia for sharing your experience.
