Now a Level 10 ronin, Seiki is slowly coming to terms with the death of Master Tsujihara and his new life in Shinshioka.

Spending his days in the Wilderness, he’s venting his remaining frustrations while staying away from the city drama and those griefers, like the Rogami Clan, who had made his in-game experience so challenging thus far. He has even taken up a trade skill.

But when he’s presented with an offer he can’t refuse and accepts a simple mission to deliver a message to Kano Castle, he quickly finds his troubles are only just beginning. Caught in an imbroglio that will only get worse the more he tries to do well, Seiki will set off a series of events that will lead to chaos, death, and the eventual destruction of an entire territory.

Surrounded by betrayal, hidden agendas, and people looking to take advantage of him, who can Seiki really trust?

When everything is not what it seems, it can be impossible to differentiate between friends and foes.

a story of choices live or die this is what he has to decide this is what makes it so great this is also what makes it so horrible in some ways that makes people with disabilities theme less than they are while at the same time showing someone who is getting used to the fact that yes this is a permanent disability and that there is an alternative life in VR so it has its good points but also has its bad points and there's something that if you like Asian fighting styles video games and the meth of the disability being bad and hard to overcome or to adapt to and this is a book for you

The characters grow, there's fun adventures and even a few twists I didn't expect. A great sequel.

An excellent continuation of the first book

I like how they made the mystery solvable but not obvious, and I really like the the growth of Seki as a character. Only complaint is that there isnt a third book yet but that’s just me being impatient.

Just as great as the first book

it's my second time reading this story and my first time listening to it. I loved the world, setting and plot the first time around and that didn't change. The middle part of the book is a bit confusing and there is a LOT going on and you feel like you're rushing from one sentence to the next. But I think it's worth it.

Loved it

Thorn’s second book continues to build this game world and an increasingly complex mythology arc. The action is more evenly paced and less frenetic with the introduction of some wonderful new characters and the re-appearance of some old foes. We also get to learn more about Seiki’s internal struggles which adds a particularly poignancy to the story. Excellent narration by Christian Rummel. Very much looking forward to the next installment!

Even better than the first!

Up until a month ago I had never heard of litRPGs. on a whim from a recommendation by audible I tried the first book in this series. I gotta say I was instantly hooked. The characters are like able. The story is awesome to listen to. The layers of intrigue and deceit are remarkable. I highly recommend both the books in this series. Let’s hope Ms Thorn doesn’t make us wait much longer for vol 3. Pleaseeee!!! Release it soon. :) #tagsgiving #sweepstakes

This is well written and captivating action driven story set in an online world that I truely wish was a real game. I would play this daily if a game was this good. The characters are well written and diverse, the world is beautiful and full of adventure and the world real and online are believeable and rich with a flavor and texture that feel alive and inviting.
I hope there is a lot more to this series. Nikita Thorn is a rising star and I look forward to what comes next.
I also hope that someone makes this as a real game someday!

My New favorite series!

I must have missed it, but SethK’s name has changed to Seiki. It must have happened at a level change, but I missed it. Seiki is now level 10 and getting accustomed to the mechanics and politics of the game. In short, he is getting the bigger picture of the game and how things are run, which gives him insight into the path he should take. This in no way means Seiki has everything figured out. He still winds up getting himself into predicaments that expand into a series of events that effect whole territories. The writing is excellent, the characters wonderful, and the game knowledge is evident. The story is quite interesting given the feudal Japan setting.

"Donna Summer would be very pleased!"
